My family has been coming here since the 1970s. My wife is vegan and I'm a carnivore and we both have a great time whenever we stop in to the cafe.

Oh boy.. we went there today and I immediately thought that this would be my new favorite place.. this lasted until the food arrived.
Lets start with the sides: a large leaf of lettuce under a shredded carrot. Pure and dry. The main dish was called mushroom burger or something like it. It came with a teaspoon full of what was, according to the menu, sauerkraut, two thin slices of unrecognizable tomato under melted cheese (?). The patty itself had a sight taste of something that wasn't pure cardboard. Over all bland, no spices noticeable within two miles or so.
This is the place where you want to take someone to make sure they never consider going meatless. Really disappointing. Guys, it is really not that difficult to come up with tasty food. I have no idea where all these 5 star reviews come from??

Over time the portions have gotten smaller and smaller to the point where I feel that I am being ripped off. I always order the Club Sandwich with no center piece of bread. In the past year, they have reduced the portion of the wheat meat so that it is a couple of slices with tomato and lettuce. Certainly should not be called a club sandwich. When I complain, they bring me more, but charge me for extra wheat meat. Tonight, was the last time. The wheat meat is a little larger than a 50 cent piece. I told the waiter and he told me that this is the proper amount. For the price of the sandwich, I can just make a sandwich at home with Tofurkey. In the past, have also ordered the nut burger. However, the nut burger is the size of a child's portion. For the amount of money that they charge for the food, I will find another restaurant where the portions are reasonable.

If you want to eat healthier food that doesn't taste like vegetarian food, this is the place to come!! They offer a wide variety of vegan and vegetarian products to try. Plus, in addition to being a grocery store, they have a gourmet restaurant on the premises that is simply delicious. I am not a vegetarian, but I prefer healthier foods without all of the junk added to products. You can eat right and still have a delectable dish or two. Go try this grocery store, vitamin shop, and restaurant all in one!

The place has a nice ambience, good service. It's usually crowded, when I go there. They have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. The store is a little bit more expensive than some other stores in the valley.

I absolutely love this restaurant/shop/market mix. The true Valley feel is everywhere inside, from the decor to the product. The food at the restaurant is incredible, no matter if you are a vegetarian or not. The Nut burger is a favorite with my family, as is the cornbread, salads, and iced teas. It is definitely worth stopping in, even just to see the eclectic and wonderful collection of items in the shop. You can find crystals, lamps, tapestries, musical instruments, books, and more.

Been coming here for almost 20 years.
I currently live about 55 miles out of the way but I make the drive for the quality vegan food at the restaurant and the lovely little pixie girl who works the register (I wish I knew her name but she exudes customer service and she looks like a little pixie!)
Totally recommend to anyone looking for vegan/vegetarian fare in the LA area and very good to bring non vegan friends to enjoy something different! Everyone I take with me is always impressed.
