I've been to this shop a few times over the years. The women do quality work. Prices are comparable to other hair braiding salons.

I'm so pissed and will never go back here again! I asked for a clear size and they were doing great when started but once they got to the front they got lazy and gave me big braids that I can't manage or fit my face! They're like so big, and not the extra big that's cute but between Ned and big which s awkward looking. I'm so mad man! They smile in your face then do whatever they want to your hair. Not to mention that my hair should have been braided small enough to cover my short curly hair that's a diff color than the weave I chose. I went to 3 other places before for the same style and it came out great. I travel a lot so it's usually always a different place. So pissed! Crazy thing is when I went in there 2 girl was fighting with them because of how her hair came out and another was getting her hair done and it looked a Hot ass mess! Keep your money and do not go there! Wanted to keep my hair in for at least a month but this won't last 3 wks! WASTE!

I ended up at Fofana's because someone that was supposed to do my hair earlier in the day bailed last minute. I called them around 12 and they told me if I came in the next 10 minutes someone would be available to do my hair. I showed up and quickly discussed with them what I wanted done and they told me the price for the length of the box braids would be $130. Being that I was going to pay the person earlier the same price it worked out for me. I had two people working on my head and I was out of their shop in 3 hours. The braiding was fine for me, I didn't feel it was too tight but of course I'm a stickler about my edges like everyone else. Not to offend African women (and I could be totally wrong), but it appears that they don't really care about "edges" like how "African American" women do. You tell them not to braid up your edges and it's almost like they don't even know what edges are because they braid them up anyway. When they finally finished they raised the price by $10 for some bogus reason (I believe she told me I had run out of hair and they had to start using their own hair packs, I brought 6 packs of hair with me and I have a very small head so I don't know how that happened.) Overall the fact that I was in and out quick was a plus given the situation earlier in the day and I had somewhere to be that night. As far as the price thing I feel like that happens when you go to any African braiding shop so that's not something you can really avoid. At the end of the day, my experience there was not that bad and I would go back.

Called the day before to make an appointment for 10am the next day. Arrived at 10 am and asked how much my hair would be. I was told $160( I guess because my hair is thick, which I understand). They didn't start my hair until about 11am because they were too busy talking about my hair in their native tongue and trying to convince me to get box braids after I stated several times I wanted Senegalese twists. They do not take much care when doing your hair. They pull and tug on the hair as if it won't come out of your scalp. When the one lady was twisting the ends of the hair near my edges, I felt a few strands being ripped out because she was being rough. During this time, a random man walked into the building and started pleasuring himself in the hallway!! After being there almost 6 hours, I was finally done and the owner tells me next time I HAVE to get box braids. I got ready to pay and they said because they had to use an extra pack of hair the price was $165. I paid and left. Needless to say I will stick to my lady EVA on Osbourne Terrace in Newark. I'd rather pay $130, spend the same amount of time at her shop, feel safe, not be pressured, and have my hair done right than come here again. I will never give them my business again or refer anyone to them.
