  We were at a nearby LDS Church History site Adam-ondi-Ahman, and decided to make the 1-hour trek down to this site. Only 32 miles NE of Adam-ondi-Ahman, State Route D is a long lonely drive with a lot of empty farmland to look at. The road is paved, but it has that "very old" look to it. After an hour, when we got there we almost drove past it on the east side of the road as Google Maps felt the location was the Community of Christ building on the west side of the road about 200 feet further south. If you don't notice the sign, you could miss it completely.
  
  The only building on the Temple Site is a well maintained restroom facility. The four corner stones are understandably not in good repair, but the LDS Church has encased them in concrete and glass for protection. Good to protect and view, but not good for photography because the glare off the glass was making photographing the stones difficult when I was there. The site is surrounded by trees and there is informational signs talking about the site, the four temple corner stones, and the settlement of Far West. In 1836 there were over 160 homes and buildings and several thousand people in this town. Today you look around and it is all mostly empty farmland. It is interesting to see how 180 years can erase most physical evidence that the place ever existed.

  Picked this spot to watch the eclipse. Plenty of parking. Clean rest-rooms. Lots of well groomed lawn. Turned out to be a great spot. Enjoyed the eclipse with a nice group of people I had never met before. Always an interesting spot to visit.

  Surrounded by trees, it is a quiet fenced off grove. Not much to see, but still a very quite contemplative space, In a footprint about 2/3 the size of the Kirtland temple.
