Food was good, nothing on the menu sets it apart from the other Mexican restaurants in this area. Had the tamales and the maize wasn't too thick and the pork was flavourful.
Best authentic Mexican food. New decor inside. They treat everyone like family. Try it out.
Great food. A tip surcharge is included with your total already, the waiter didn't mention that, so pay attention to your reciept. We ate upstairs, it was great!
Food was ok, waitress was rude and ruined the whole experience though. She questioned very rudely why I would order enchiladas with cheese sauce and a side of Verde, instead of ordering the Verde enchiladas with the sauce on the side. Rolled her eyes at my request. Chips were gross, but the salsa was decent. The best part were the margaritas, they were pretty good. I Won't be coming back, I'll stick to Mi Ranchito!
Our service was amazing. The food was about 50/50. We had a large group and 50% loved it and 50% thought it was just okay. I was not impressed by our margaritas. The nachos rocked!!! I would go back just to try something else and base my final decision then.
Food was very good. Had some different choices than the usual tex-mex fare. Service was prompt and the place is clean. They have a nice rooftop patio.
Very cool dive place. Great food and drink. Sat at bar Great service.
This is my favourite Mexican restaurant in Kansas City.
Great good and great people.
Family run with great staff and they care!
Kat makes the best Margaritas!
Food here is very good and the atmosphere is nice, especially evenings on the rooftop deck. The margaritas here are nothing special & don't warrant their medium-high prices. Even purchasing by the pitcher, the price:value ratio is out of line with other offerings nearby.
I have always heard great reviews about this place. I was pretty disappointed. We got our chips and sauce as soon as we sat down. Problem was, we got our sauce in little tiny plastic cups, like what you would put ketchup in. So we got three of these little cups to share between the three of us. They were empty in the first five minutes after we got them. We saw others get their sauce in the bigger cups that most Mexican restaurants have. Our waitress seemed to be in a bad mood and her service was rushed. It almost felt like we were bothering her. Then, the food was pretty of bland. Between putting salt and two little cups (I didn't want to "bother" the waitress anymore)of sauce on it, I was able to eat it just so I didn't waste my money. I won't recommend this place to anyone.
The food was outstanding. The service was great despite what those two A$$ hats with their little yelp bs wrote. You have no power. The owner is a very sweet women.
I absolutely love El Patron! They have an excellent happy hour with outside deck on the second floor but be sure to arrive early or else you'll be waiting. Family owned, great service and awesome drinks. I eat here at least 4 times per month and never disappointed.
Came in for the first time tonight while visiting from out of town.
The atmosphere and service were wonderful and the margaritas were pretty good.
The food, however, was very subpar. While I was not necessarily expecting to have a ton of spice in my food, I was expecting at least some sort of flavor. I have never had such bland Mexican food in my entire life. I had to add salt to the salsa in order to make it taste like more than tomato paste. Taco Bell would be a better choice for Mexican.
Very disappointed. Had a reservation at 6:30 called to say would be 10 min. late. When arrived was told 5 min to seating but had to wait 30 min. There were no guests leaving the upstairs where we were eventually seated so that confused us as well. The food was average to good based on the 7 dining with us. The issues arose when we were getting close to to being done eating and the manager or assistant manager and an older woman began "hawking us", staring, rushing to pick up glasses off the table and basically indicating that they were ready for us to go by their close proximity to our table. This wasn't an issue of closing time as it was 8:30 at night and our entire dining time did not last over an hour and 15 min. This was so noticeable that we discussed it while it was going on. 10 minutes later we got up and left. At the bottom of the stairs there was another party of 8-10 that were gathered getting on their coats and discussing the fact that they were rudely treated much the same as our group to get up and leave. This confirmed for us the treatment we had received from the management. Servers were great, food was average, but the treatment we received from the management was inexcusable. With so many great Mexican food restaurants in KC there's no chance we would return, probably the same for the other group we met!
