I became a member when I was trying to find a non meat burger for family member. The very fresh and best food and salads. It is amazing. The food that is the best for you. tastes really good. If I were closer. I would eat here every day. just writing this reminds me I have to go back again. the volunteers do a really great job. everyone in Pgh should join and support this co-op. come on skip mcdonalds and try this. it's worth it. get the king bee natural smoothie.
I enjoy using the co-op. Mostly for bulk items. The co-op offers mostly vegetarian and vegan foods, but does carry humanely raised and killed chicken. The is also a cafe that serves vegetarian and vegan foods.
I love this place! A little high priced but the quality is amazing and they always have hard to find items. It’s also a great place for vegan options both grocery items and bakery/cafe items.
This place is great!! Everyone working there is so nice. Great selection of organic products. Prices are a little high, but everything is top quality. I would recommend this place to everyone.
Best organic and local produce in town. You can't get better than this. For a small co-op this place really has everything. Nice and affordable selections in the bulk goods. They also have a fantastic hot/cold bar, great coffee and freshly prepared juices, great bulk teas and herbs. I especially love the carefully curated book section and health/beauty aisles. You can find just about everything here. Great place.
Just wish they would stop the drama! This place is an important part of the health and wellness of many people, and also provides good benefits and fair wages to its workers. That reality has been obfuscated by member infighting and organizational disputes in recent years.
Love the Co-op. There is always a huge selection of vegan food available, the employees are so nice and they offer an EBT discount for those of limited means. The city is so fortunate to have this wonderful store that cares about the needs of the community!
Organic food co-op. Extreme wide variety of choices but not particularly cheap. Memberships available for discount savings. Bulk purchases of fruits and vegetables. Wish they had more than 1 location - especially in western PA - Robinson or Airport area.
Way less expensive than Market District & Whole Foods (Paycheck)
Great place if you're trying to find unique products. Be prepared to spend a lot more here but some items that Giant Eagle carries that are the same are cheaper here, go figure. Hate that they're like other stores where if you have a question you can't find anyone to ask or one cashier lane open & a line. Typical that stores keep minimal employees so they can keep the profits.
Great shopping experience! Sustainable and PLENTY of organic, healthy, vegan options. Such a valuable resource for me as my dog and I road trip cross country. I'll happily be back when in Pittsburgh next. Thank you all SO MUCH ✌🏽😍
The Co-op is a great place to shop especially if you have food allergies or prefer a vegetarian or pescatarian diet. They have many options and you can pick up an amazing smoothie while you are there.
A nobrainer when seeking vibrant organic produce and true whole foods. Community driven, passionate people work here, and there's a clear appreciation for all things local.
Very courteous and helpful staff. Moderately above average knowledgeable. If this is a truly customer owned establishment, why then is it so expensive for most items? Many items can be found less pricey at other local markets.
Wonderful "Whole Foods-like" store/ deli featuring healthy hot food/salad bar. Homemade soups and fresh salads are reasonably priced and delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend East End Co-op for (health conscious) groceries and healthy lunch.
Pretty cool place. I LOVE being able to buy dry food in bulk, since that's rare here in Pittsburgh. But some things are ridiculously priced, like Turner's milk for $4.99 a gallon, when at a grocery store it's less than that for the same product. That's even higher than a gas station charges.
Definitely have a amazing selection on herbs, dry foods and some not so common produce. Parking is a pain, but not impossible. Some staff were great, friendly, while some give sideways looks and acted shady.
Will frequent the place for specific products.
