Delicious home cooked food! The best place to eat on the island!
Home cooking elevated to a whole new level! Great atmosphere and good service. The hotel was lousy but the restaurant was fantastic. Best mac and cheese outside my mom's kitchen!! Must eat here while visiting Jekyll.
Really great restaurant! Food was delicious. Save some room for the bread pudding for dessert!
The most amazing fried green tomatoes and squash casserole we've ever had and my husband is a very particular international chef!! He actually said, "this food makes me want to order something else". Unfortunately he was just too full😀. You have to eat at Driftwood Bistro when you go to Jekyll Island!!
Great food, good ambiance! However, the service was sub-par. After being seated, given drinks, and taking our order the waitress never came back; even after our food was served. I went to the bar, requested a refill, and asked where our waitress was. That's when I was notified that our waitress had to leave. Just annoyed that nobody bothered to tell us or check on us.
Awesome food and service, best on the island! Good prices and the fried okra is a must. Very good place to dine.
Considered great seafood for a reasonable price. This is where the locals eat. The stuffed flounder and shrimp and grits were very good. We enjoyed a nice table wine for $10 a bottle. The non seafood eater in our group also had several choices. They also have full and half portions.
Come early as there is often a line.
Not recommended for groups over eight unless you are willing to split up.
Fulfilled the need to feed. The food was not gourmet, but it was very tasty. Exactly what I wanted.(fried catfish, mac n cheese, and green beans). I love the fact that they offer petite plate options. And I very much respect the fact that they calculate their tip suggestions correctly, based on pre-tax sums rather than post-tax sums (see bill).
Arrived at 6:40 pm. We were told there was a 15-25 wait for dinner service. My wife and I had drinks from the bar and went outside to smoke. Promptly 5 minutes later we were called in to be sat. All the service was excellent. We placed drink, app, dinner order together. Drinks and appetizers were excellent. Then waited 75 minutes for our entree. Unacceptable. I asked for a manager, explained I would like to pay for our drinks and appetizers. He abruptly took my money, found our waitress, Tracey, I believe, and she brought my change back at the front wait station where I had explained my problems to both hostesses there. I tipped our waitress Tracey $20, thanked her and left. No compensation was offered, no manager ever reappeared. We went to Tortuga's and were served efficiently and timely. 25 years in hotel/restaurant management. Worst experience I have ever had. The only reason we came to the Bistro on Jekyll is because we did last year, on our 1st anniversary. We will not be back next year. Thanks poor management team
We ate at the bistro the other night for our anniversary and were extremely impressed. I have a gluten allergy and so I am always hesitant to try out new places but around half, if not more, of their menu was GF (you just have to make sure you let them know that you are gluten sensitive)! I would definitely eat there again!
I usually never give anyone below 4 stars but the service was extremely slow, over an hour from appetizers to food and our drinks weren't refilled while waiting unless we flagged someone down. This is after the 30 min wait for a seat. They said they were short staffed but didn't compensate for the wait at all (no discount, free dessert, etc). We left our waitress, who we didn't see much, 20% but would have left much more if she was around and did something about the wait. Not the best birthday dinner and a 2 year old only has so much patience. I can't remark on the food much it seemed good but we were so starved, a cardboard box would have been good:) the fried okra was not goodit had all stems, not cut up, etc. Mushrooms were ok and fried green tomatoes were good (all appetizers). On a positive note, the hostesses and bus boys were very nice and the food is reasonably priced. If they extended their hours beyond 5-9, there may not be as long of a wait and slow service.
We try to eat there at least once each trip into Jekyll. It's been our favorite for years. The food and service are good. Great shrimp and pot roast.
The only down sides are the limited parking and the fact that they don't serve their fresh home-made Key Lime Pie anymore.
My husband and I went here for our 1st Anniversary. We got the sample platter appetizer, the veggie pasta w/shrimp and the fried shrimp with squash casserole and broccoli w/cheese sauce. The fried okra was not our thing, but everything else was absolutely amazing! The food was not greasy either. The service was fabulous and when we asked about what was in the squash casserole, the waitress went and got the recipe for us. We will definitely be back!!!!
One of the best places on Jekyll Island. In general very good food. Good prices and selection. Only reason I don't give the Driftwood Bistro 5 stars is their quality can be a little inconsistent. Never really bad, but sometimes more average and other times spot on.
