The staff were so helpful and friendly. We were just in town for a week and they really helped us with recommendations for good hikes nearby. Also, if you're a North Country Trail hiker, definitely stop in. They were very hiker-friendly and even held a box for us to pick up on our way. Awesome trail town gear shop!

Excellent service. Brought my paddle in years after purchase and they helped figure out why it wouldn't come apart easily anymore, plus gave me new calibration decal for free. And didn't make me feel stupid!

SAVED OUR TRIP!
Had a bent derailleur hanger/ dent spoke/ possible totaled derailleur itself. Walked in and Ian dropped everything and was able to save the derailleur! He made sure we had a working bike that night so we could leave first thing the next morning for copper harbor. Very friendly staff! Would not go anywhere else!response / report this review -

I brought my bike there to get a tire changed last year. I go to change my tube this spring and the bolt to get my tire off is stripped out and I can't get it off.

I've shopped at Down Wind for a lot of things in the past three years. The staff is always very polite, the rewards program is very useful if you buy a lot of stuff (like a bike), and the sales are always a great thing to stop for.

While this shop has many great products to offer, the staff is less than friendly. Don't get me wrong, the young kids are nice but the older "gentlemen" / owners are there for the kill. They will do everything they can to get every dollar out of you. Don't ask too many questions to Todd or he will start talk to you in a very condescending tone. If you know a lot about bikes you will be fine, but if you are not an expert, prepare to be taken advantage of and talked down to. I really wanted to have a great experience here but it just did not happen
