Beautiful retreat with a great balance of modern amenities and disconnecting from social life. We stayed in cabin 7. It's nice having a fridge, heater, stove top, warm water, and wi-fi for if you need it. Or you can choose to rough it out more and not bring any technology. I loved the dedicated meditation building to be completely immersed with no distractions. The scenery is beautiful and the stars are endless if the moon isn't out. The quietness and stillness is so refreshing.
Diamond Mountain Retreat Center is situated in a beautiful valley with a number of retreat huts that are very well appointed and looked after. You can do private retreat here or attend one of the regular 10 day retreats or one can volunteer for a month or longer. The staff are amazing and you will learn meditation and have access to yoga classes.
Going for walks here is really enjoyable, the desert flowers are very beautiful and lots of bird life.
The historic Bowie Fort is close by too.
Did some stucco work on these adobe buildings and the people were great to to be around.
HahahaTibetan Buddhism in America has so many faces. Crestone's stupas, Boulder's Naropa University, Vermont's Tail of the Tiger, and recently this place, the Diamond Mountain Retreat, founded by Yeshe Michael Roach in the Gelugpa tradition. Stop by for a look see, or better yet, rent a cabin and spend some time on their impeccable mountain property. Their cabins each have a unique location, style, interior, and view of distant vistas that will blow your mind. Reasonable rates as well, lots of solitude and privacy, and is possibly the very place that will help you change whatever you might feel needs to go.
Staying at Diamond Mountain Retreat Center is an amazing experience. I can't believe I have been there four times already! The people are very kind and helpful and the cabins are comfortable and so quiet. If you are needing a place to be away from the business of your everyday life and want to be supported by people who understand retreat, this is the place!
