Lovely quiet campground and well kept. I tent camped at 140. My only feedback it to replace the door in the men's bathroom by 140. I definitely killed a brown recluse in the shower with me and there were tons of daddy long legs everywhere. I am sure they are coming through this gaping hole under the door. Other than that, just beautiful!
Love the location and some of the employees but the company running it is not taking good care of the park. There are bridges not repaired on the trails. The bathroom needs updating and not as clean on some loops as others. Price is Jacked up to pay for private concession. I wish the National Forest Service would take back operating the campgrounds and invest in improvements. It's a great location and could be a great park. $36 a night for no electric or water sites is too high for federal park. Additionally they would not allow me to cruise the park to see which site I wanted to purchase. First time I have had that barrier. Also required me to make online reservations instead of purchasing at the gate. Not on the website that it was required so had to drive to a signal to reserve a site unseen.
Great campground. Clean and tidy spaces. Bathrooms well kept but showers and drains could use some attention as the one of two backed up severely leaving you standing in fetid drain water from who knows whom. But area was great and so convenient to town! Will be back for sure
What a great campground. Nice big campsites within a well established and maintained forest. Super close to so many great family friendly things to do. The bathrooms were nice with hot showers and cleaned daily. Multiple hikes within the campground as well as a nice big swimming hole for the kids to play. If you're here for fishing there's quite a few good holes to pull some trout out of the river and it's stocked pretty regularly.
Massive campground on the Davidson river. The loops in the campground vary. We stayed at site 14 in White Oak. Most of the single sites in this loop offer a lot of privacy. Site 12 and 13 looked the best on this loop. Each site has a picnic bench, fire pit with grill, and a lantern pole. This loop had two bathroom blocks which were a little dated but had two stalls, a sink and a shower that provided hot water. Firewood was a little pricey at $9 for a bundle of 6 logs. Campground is located within reasonable distance to must see things in this area including Brevard, Rainbow Falls, and Sliding Rock.
