Best family style restaurant there is on this planet. Delicious food. Clean comfortable dining room. Staff is friendly. Great service. Love the bakery, and all the gift items.

This place is great! It is definitely worth making a special trip for. The Amish food (which is just regular food cooked by the Amish) is really great. You can order "family-style" from the menu, or get the buffet. We got the buffet and did not leave disappointed. The price was reasonable, and service was good. If given the option between here and another place, I would definitely choose here!

The food I had wasn't bad, but my mother's cooking is better. The food was dry and we had to wait 50 minutes for it to come to our table. The only redeeming quality is the pie, which is excellent. There are many delicious flavors to choose from and you can even buy some in the bakery.

Went today with Mom and Jenna my Son's girlfriend. Excellent service,and atmosphere;and the gift shop had something for everyone. Especially considering it is the Christmas Holiday! I had a great time all the way around.And their homemade Peanut butter that I brought home for my husband is delicious!

Great food and great shopping at a reasonable price. Even Ronald Regan has eaten therethey have his signed photo on the wall. If you go you must try their peanut butter pie!

It was a short wait due to a busy Saturday, however, the food is always worth the wait. Their chicken salad was wonderful and even tried a fried pickle for the first time. It was pretty tasty. The only issue was we had to ask for a refill of drinks, but the waitress willingly brought them in a to-go cup for us.

This is the best restaurant around. And ever since they got the buffet, I have loved it even more. The best meats are the fried chicken, fish, and roast beef. And the stuffing and mac&cheese are the best I've ever had.
I was very disappointed in the breakfast, but lunch and dinner are the best.

I tried baked oatmeal for the first time and it did not disappoint, I highly recommend it for breakfast. There is a verity of country meals to choose and from what I can tell they are all good. Price isn't to bad considering the portion sizes you get.

The experience and food are great. My only complaint is the food is always the same. For someone local I wish they would change it up a little, but for a visitor it is probably OK. Great Amish/homemade food. The service is always good. Give yourself time to walk through the shops. There is a hotel, playground, and theatre here as well.

I eat here all the time and a few weeks ago we decided that we were going to stay at hotel. It was a beautiful experience and stayed again a few weeks later. It's like going back in time but in a wonderful way. Wonderful breakfast buffet. In the middle of the night my boyfriend was suffering from acid reflux and the man at desk went out of his way to go up to kitchen and get us some milk. Thank you all for this stay and any others in the future. WE WILL BE BACK!

We were given a nights stay for a Christmas present. We really enjoy the quiet calm atmosphere here! The pool area was VERY nice! Our room was beautiful and spacious. Really had a very nice stay and will definitely be going back!

I recently went to Das Dutchman Essenhaus for the first time in probably 7-10 years. I've always loved the food there, and this time was no exception. They have expanded the restaurant area quite a bit since last time I was there, and it has turned into quite a local tourist attraction. That's good for them, but does cause issues that make me take away 1 star from an otherwise perfect rating. In the attempt to handle the massive number of people that pass thru the doors each day, they implemented a buffet option, where they have the standard Amish/Mennonite quality food items, but limit it to about 2 meat options, no pie options, and a healthy selection of side items. Thankfully one of the meats is the wonderful fried chicken they serve. As a result of all this, the experience is not as great as it once was. You can still opt to get family style dinners, where you order a dinner option, and that item is brought out for the table to share (such as fried chicken and mashed potatoes) and it is served family style. You get a big old plate of chicken, a huge bowl of mashed potatoes, boat of gravy, and other side items, and pass it like you would a home cooked dinner. Each meal comes with your choice of a home made pie at the end too. There are several other buildings at the location to allow you to shop for various other items, to include some clothing, nick-nacks, quilts, etc. I still enjoy going and will most definitely be back, but I think next time I will go back to the family style or made to order meals and skip the buffet section.

Considering how this place has turned into such an attraction, and how many people this place has to cook for and serve in a day, it's amazing they can do it at all, especially considering they quality of the food is still the most exceptional you will find anywhere. It really is a testament to the common sense, put your head together, figure out a way, work hard, and get it done approach the Amish and Mennonite community is so good at. I know over time, the place will get even more spectacular, so I'm really looking forward to that day so I can put that other star back where it belongs.

Fun place to visit - great food. Family style dining is fun, but I'm a bigger fan of opting for their buffet so you can try more options. The gifts shops around the property are fun too, so be sure to leave some time for that. My last trip was for a special event for a small group. We were in the conference building and had a buffet set up in their. Did not have all the options that the restaurant offers but it was terrific food (and plenty of it).
