Beer, beer, beer! Food is good-ish (step up from typical bar food) but the beer selection makes it not matter. Besides, beer and a greasy hot dog can really hit the spot! All 4 of my boys love eating here and you can't deny a consensus!! Everyone who works here is helpful and kind (Kat is our favourite server though). There is something for everyone here and most importantly the beer choices!!!
Great beer selection, good dogs and pizza, friendly, genuinely nice, helpful staff, neighborhood ambiance even if you're a stranger. Oh, and the salads are good too, that's what my wife always has.
Popped over here for a bite with some friends after freezing in a park. We enjoyed the variety (particularly regarding sandwich styles). There's food for the health-seekers and the fatty, pub-food seekers! The drinks were great too! We'd come back!
Was born and raised Chicago and these are some of the closest Chicago hot dog I've ever had. I love how other cooks and I love their fries as long as you order them well done. They have so many different kinds of hot dogs it's crazy. I love getting the chili cheese dog with the Chilean the cheese on the side and using it to dip my fries. I would recommend this to everybody.
Delicious hot dogs and nice draft beer selection, but the best part is their beer cave! You can bring any beer out and cool drink it with your meal! Or, take home a mix and match six pack.
Excellent selection of brews and dogs. Decent service, even though a server accidentally spilled ranch dressing on myself and several surrounding diners and did not apologize or offer any discount or perk. Nothing personal, the server seemed frazzled, but could have gone further to make up for the very sloppy mistake.
This place has a ton of vegetarian options! I got a veggie dog Big Ben style and it's was great! It was covered in fries cheese sauce and Coke slaw. I also got a side of fries veg style and they were even better! The fries had cheese sauce and avocado spread on top and a side of ranch. They had a great mix of food options to meat eaters and vegetarians alike. Nice, friendly, and fast staff! Would definitely recommend stopping in the you his place for lunch if you happen to stroll though Pittsburgh!
I would like to tell you about my final visit to D's Six Pax & Dogz. I had been a regular and often did not bring my ID in when getting a beer at the bar since I am over 30. This time, however, the bartender insisted that I show my ID after ordering a beer and hot dog. I did not want to cause a problem, so I went back to bring my ID. (Even though, technically, since they had already permitted me into the bar area of the restaurant, which implies that I could not be there legally as a minor. See the "Pizza Hut exception", which is the only of the five exceptions which could legally permit a minor to be in an establishment which serves alcoholic beverages.
5.Minors at food-oriented establishments (“Pizza Hut exception”)If a restaurant, hotel, or retail dispenser licensed premises has gross sales of food and non-alcoholic beverages equal to fifty percent (50%) or more of its combined gross sales of both food and alcoholic beverages, then minors are permitted on the premises. The presence of a parent, legal guardian, or proper supervisor is not necessary. Minors present under the Pizza Hut exception are not permitted to sit in the bar section of the premises. Further, no alcoholic beverages can be served to any adult at the table or booth where the minor is seated (unless the minor is also there with a parent, legal guardian, or proper supervisor), without risk of citation by the Bureau for having minors frequent the premises.)
After returning with my ID, I waited for my beer which I had ordered. After eating my food, I decided to step out for some fresh air. At this point the bartender took notice and accused me of shoplifting. I informed him that my tab was still open and I was awaiting my beer. Much to my dismay, he said that he would not serve me even after presenting him with my ID. I told them that I was not going to pay until I received the things I had ordered. Thus, an impasse. I would like to note that while the bartender (and now also the owner) and I were discussing this outside, my friend and his wife entered the restaurant witnessing what was becoming a scene.
I would like to point out at this point, any smart customer service oriented business should attempt to deescalate the situation. After all, is so much bad PR really worth $12? Instead, they threatened to call the cops numerous times.
After being extorted into paying for hot dog, the owner assaulted me outside bringing his hand in my face, and saying that he "beats punks like me all the time". In addition, another "regular" made similar statements implying violence if I did not "get to steppin'", even though that I was not even on their property at this point.
Oh well.
The BEST hot dogs. And the fries are so good they are addicting. It also helps they have a great beer selection that includes anything you could ever want.
Great local spot with basic, but very well executed bar food. Awesome beet selection. Very accommodating of small children, so it is popular with the earlier dinner crowd.
Always a great stop for good beer, friendly service, and the best hot dogs & fries in town. Don't go in expecting formal sit down, go in for pub food and a relaxing meal. Kid friendly too.
One of those bars that just has so many pluses, no review will do it justice. The best part is the atmosphere. One half is first come-first serve bar tables, other half is seating. Always great music from my past (90's and oldies). Hot dogs are great with many options. They also have a fantastic beer room in the back categorized by country where you can buy singles.
Initially thought a dive-bar but on second thought it's not really. Fantastic beer selection with good bar food. Plus maybe 8 or 10 of specialty hot dogs that are great and fun to try. Great for lunch or no frills dinner.
