The A/C is broken, and this is my second room. My first room I gave to a coworker who's room was so bad she couldn't stay in it Ripped up carpet, no AC, damaged paint/drywall/wall paper Not to mention how rude the front desk staff have been, or how much of a pain it is to get in and out of the location. Not worth it
Host of my fiftieth reunion of Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 11th Marines from Vietnam.
They treated us like they really liked and respected us.
Our room was clean, bed was comfortable, lobby was clean. Bathtub caulking was black with mildew. We asked for the 2nd floor over looking the pool, view was blocked by trees and balcony had an overhang filled with garbage and covered with a trellis to hide the filth!
I originally booked a room at the Howard Johnson but it was not in a good part of town. We switched to this hotel and we were so unbelievably impressed. The staff for starters were so courteous and willing to help. The rooms were clean, with no odors. Hot water that lasted for 4 people to shower..the food was great and the little Kona coffee shop was fabulous. Shout out to Charisse in the coffee shop!!! The young lady at the front who showed my husband the grounds before we committed to staying there was just great! I'm upset I don't know her name but I will never forget her face. The pool was great. So beautiful at night lit up. The hotel itself is beautiful..I will never stay at another hotel in San Diego. I cannot rave about this hotel enough!!! We are definitely repeat customers from now on. Thank you Crowne Plaza hotel..
I've attended this hotel for the past 7 seven years for Tiki Oasis, they are wonderful to accommodate this event. The staff was friendly and helpful. The suishi bar- excellent even with the 1000s of dishes they served! The restaurant however, was horrible. The restaurant was under staffed. They know what to expect every year but they didn't even bring their "B" game. Our room smelled musty and our bed was so worn out and broken. The worst thing was the parking! Not that they charged $14 dollars but there was not enough even though there was a vacant lot next door not being utilized!! Attendees that came for the day left in frustration because they could not park for an hour let alone overnight. This meant sales were down for us vendors with folks telling us they couldn't shop because they had no way to park nearby. At $250 a night you would think they could get some parking for this event or get valet service.
I do really love this hotel and the decor, the fountains, the pool and landscape- that is the selling point for me.
This use to be one of San Diego's best sushi restaurants. I was told new management changed the sushi chefs. We got there and the chef had just went to lunch, no problem we waited for him.
Ok the waitress tells him, "these guys have been waiting for you"
The chef stands there with his hands behind his back just looking at us for a good while
We place our orders, we get our food which was good, but throughout the process the chef does not say one word to us, but he did manage to check his cell phone more than a handful of times. The interaction with the chefs was one of the reasons we frequent this place.
Sad to say we won't be returning.
We went here for the Doctor who conference and found the hotel to be nice and accommodating. We were surprised to find that breakfast was not included in our stay. Which is fine but I'm used to breakfast being included maybe that's only at smaller hotels. That didn't affect my view of the hotel just something I wanted to note in my review.
The rooms are nice and we enjoyed our balcony. The restaurant had delicious food and the room service was very good as well. I had the caesar salad one night with chicken and the burger another day. Both were delicious and I would get again. The only note I would make about the restaurant is the wait times were long at times.
The ambience of the hotel screams "Hawaii". It was very nice and I enjoyed it. The staff were helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel.
We had reservations for a week stay. We booked on line. The website was very misleading on how they showed the rooms. We checked in and went to our room. We requested a upper level room and for the room door to be interior access. The carpet leading to the room was badly in need of replacing. The door was outside access and the hot tub was right outside the room and the room smelled like chlorine from the hot tub. Needless to say we did not keep the reservation. Also the desk staff needed more training on customer service. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The staff is very friendly the food in the islands is good breakfast is probably the best meal they serve never went to the buffet always wanted off the menu
The room I was in was clean and comfortable bathroom is tad
dated but nothing you can't live with heck it's a hotel but would you expect
The pool area is nice it's a heated pool and very comfortable
I had no issues while I was here and would definitely stay here again
very nice property. rooms are a bit dated. I recommend asking for bottom floor. we are on the 7th floor & the freeway is so loud. not looking forward to trying to sleep tonight. will definitely stay here again but just make sure I'm on bottom floor. Excellent staff everywhere! restaurant, bar, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, ect I would probably say some of the best customer service we have ever had and we travel a lot. Only negatives is we are Elite members & we had to pay for parking(only 1 out of 3 seperate reservation nights) & we booked our room & a room for our family. They offered us drink tickets & bonus points at check in for 1 reservation but not our other 2 reservations might go to front desk tomorrow to see why tomorrow.
ohhh bummer there is no longer a concierge lounge.
although power went out that night and my car was flooded out. the staff at the Crowne Plaza was very helpful and accommodating the next morning.
One staff member came over in rubber boots to get my rental car out of the flood and there were other members lining up to help de-water other peoples vehicles.
there was no back up or emergency power so it was a little scary walking down 7 flights of stairs in the pitch black with my baggage.
kudos to the staff during this hard time with the weather.
probably need a better backup plan when it comes to a loss of power, maybe a backup generator at elevation at least some emergency backup lighting.
No problems with the door keys comfortable bed good view from my window nice stream of hot water microwave and refrigerator in my room good temperature control system in my room very nice overall
Clean, updated hotel, but the staff made our stay special. The staff makes up for any flaws you may find in the hotel. From the moment we were greeted at the door, to saying good-bye, The staff was courteous and helpful. Thank you, Alex at the desk, and Juan and Jose in the restaurants. One hiccup. The shuttle seemed to shutdown in the afternoon when we needed it. I've never encountered that at a hotel advertising a shuttle service. Uber saved us those few times.
Love the lobby and the outdoor pool area. The rooms are very dated and need an upgrade. Breakfast buffet is expensive, limited and cold (temperature ). Explains why there is no one there. Parking spaces are tight. New management recently took over. In my previous stays here, they allowed me to park for free. I am now at a Spire Elite IHG level, (an even higher level with more perks) but the new management charged me every night to park there.
I'm moving on to another IHG hotel when I revisit the area.
As a conference center, the Crowne Plaza is a good location for a group smaller than 1,000 people. But the problems we had with the restaurant being understaffed and posting closed signs when they were really open created chaos. Parking, apparently, is an issue because the former dirt lot sold to some other company and is no longer available for guests.
I attended the xmas party of the Order of Q's and as always the service was excellent and have always treated us like Royalty for all the years we have been using the Hotel not only for the Q's but also all the Shriners events we hold at the hotel. The service couldn't be better, always taking care of our special needs and requests with a smile. Crowne Plaza keep up the good work, and thank you for the special rates we receive for our events.
Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely grounds and accommodations! Clean, spacious, comfortable rooms. Definitely recommend!
I Was there for the Mental Conference yesterday and the staff were super helpful and nice. Also they fed us 3 meals and snacks. me and my colleagues were impressed at how good the food was and how much variety we had to choose from. It was a great experience.
Good clean room, friendly staff, nice pool, overall not a bad place. Unfortunately I will not be staying here again because of the $13 parking fee! I didn't need know about it until I saw my bill. There are lots of other hotels in that price range that don't charge that, I will be looking elsewhere.
Not what you would expect for a Crowne Plaza. Bed was comfortable and sheets clean. Hotel is in pretty rough shape. They really need to put some money into repairing and upgrading rooms and exterior features.
