My boyfriend and I come to communal a lot, it is probably our favorite special occasion dinner spot! Its easy to make a reservation, service is great, food is AMAZING, and its easy to get to (right by Center Street in Provo). Came here for my birthday this weekend and was not disappointed. Plus, they have a new menu every season, and their new items have been just as good as the old. Warning: it is a pricey place.

I enjoyed the atmosphere especially seeing the cooks out in the open making the food. The servers were all nice and it had a nice feel to it. I didn't think that the food tasted worth the $50.00 we paid for it, but it did fill me up well and I shared a plate with one other person which surprised me that it was so filling. It didn't taste bad by any means, but it was full of tons of flavor like I might have expected.

Great experience! Went on a Wednesday night, didn't have reservations but luckily were still able to be seated at the bar. Their food is great, the wine is great and the employees were phenomenal. Would definitely go back but would make sure I had a reservation if I knew I was going:) small little restaurant, but right on the corner so it's easy to find and good location. Would recommend if you want a nice meal. Their rolls are amazing too!

Great local place to enjoy a variety of excellent food. Their menu changes often, which makes it a fun experience and to visit often. Their desserts are delicious. I would just ask to please bring back the butterscotch pudding! Expect your food to come out a little slow, but this isn't a problem because it's an atmosphere to enjoy with great company and great drinks/apps from the menu!

This is the best place to eat in Provo, and probably in Utah, hands down. I took my dad in there who was in town from Miami, Florida and he was blown away by how amazing the food and the service was. The flavors and the dishes were incredible without being too "fine dining". The atmosphere is great and has a laid back vibe, Chance was amazing and was so friendly and helpful with all requests and questions. 10/10 experience.

Great ambiance, great location, and excellent food. I enjoyed the dishes that were prepared. Relative to the Provo market, it is a little pricier (but comparable or less than a similar restaurant in a larger city), but the quality of the ingredients and the preparation makes it worth it. Family style seating. Great in a group--the dishes are made for that.

Love this place. Me and my husband went here on our first date in 2014. We have gone back probably 4 times and each time we go it's just as amazing as the last time. The food is really well prepared and so fresh. I love hat they work with local farmers and food providers. It's such a nice atmosphere. It is a lot more gourmet and fancy than most utahans are used to. So I would say stay away if you're not wanting to spend money and have an amazing experience dining.

I went to Communal in Provo a few weeks ago while I was in town. I am from LA my dining companion lives in Provo. We ordered a salad with watermelon in it. It was tasty but expensive for the ingredients. We also ordered the wild boar loin chops. The chops came to us rare and very tough. Our server let us know that they were prepared Sous-vide so that they were heated to a safe temp but still kept the meat undercooked. I simple could not cut the meat it was so tough and raw. I sent mine back and alas they came back to me overcooked, still tough and hard to cut and eat. I wish the management had suggested another dish that was palatable. Very expensive disaster and left hungry.

Awesome food! I was visiting Provo for a day with my friend, and had the chance to try the food here. It reminded me aesthetically of some of the restaurants we have in Colorado actually.

Server and cook we're both very nice and it was pretty dead so I got to talk to both of them quite a bit. It's always nice when a server talks to a customer when they're bored instead of hiding out on their phone or whatever in the back. I've worked in a lot of restaurants and I'd work with him in any of them.

The food was delicious, honestly one of the better salmon dishes I've ever had.

Really great job. I'm very impressed overall! Thanks for the hospitality!

Update june 6th, 17: Unfortunately they have started to cut corners at communal. It's not as good as it used to be.

Original review: Best hot chocolate of my entire life! Everything else is excellent too. Our server was Lee. He is extremely knowledgeable, attentive, kind, and all around professional. Highly recommended!

After our waiter (Chance) explained the items on the brunch menu, and a hard debate at which sounded best, i settled for the deep fried French toast. Our family had a little bit of everything so we all got a taste, it all looked and smelt so delicious. EVERYTHING was amazing and amazing service! Knowing that everything (from the meat, the fruit/produce, honey, and other ingredients) are fresh and local makes it that much better! They could even tell you where the items came from. Will definitely miss when Im back home.

I enjoy everything I have had here! The food is fresh and locally sourced, many things made on site (homemade ricotta!) and prepared well. It's not the best location for an intimate, romantic dinner (tables are close together or shared) but it is a great place for a group or dinner with friends. The service staff is knowledgeable about the food (which sometimes borders on pretentious but is tempered by their casual and friendly attitude). Parking can be tricky (usually on street with some limited, designated spots at the rear of the building) but downtown Provo is a great, walkable area.

Fabulous food. Always fresh and local so the menu is always changing. They have a few smaller tables and one large one where different groups sit together. It was the restaurant they took my husband when we were in town to interview. It was delicious. We ordered a lot of small plates and shared. We also had great wine. This is a great place for a special dinner out.

My husband and I have tried their Saturday brunch, lunch and dinner and multiple occasions and we've never been disappointed. The food is always very delicious. Don't be surprised by price. The name communal entails how to order. The portions are large and meant to be shared in regards to dinner. Nothing compares in Utah County.
