  A hidden gem!!! Clearest lake I've been on. Not a spot on the lake where you can't see Sandy bottom. This is our annual destination for Labor Day weekend. Kids love it. Orv/Snowmobile trail access right outside the park.

  I remember when this was the nicest State Forest Camp Ground in Michigan, absolutely BEAUTIFUL Lake! However, the DNR has succeeded in ruining it by overcrowding, restricted camping areas, in the 1960's we could camp on the shore, have a campfire , pump GOOD water from a hand pump, use the outhouses as need, and get back to nature! To BAD that the State had to get GREEDY and turn it into an Overpriced MESS!

  Nice campground. The beach is nice and sandy. The lake does drop off quite fast but has plenty of shallow water for kids to play in. There are two volleyball courts by the beach. It has some pull though sites available and the fire pits are quite nice. The bathrooms are clean and so are the showers. There are plenty of trails for biking or for an ORV. There is a disc golf course available on the day use side of the lake. It was a 10 minute bike ride if you took the trails. The Ranger Station has disk rentals available along with other rentables. There is an upper and lower area of the campground. The dump station already has sewer hoses attached which is nice so you don't have to dig yours out from your camper.

  This state park has it all. A clean lake with boat launch and sandy beach, kayak rentals, dirt bike tracks, hiking, and rustic and full campsites. The showers and bathrooms are modern and clean. Lots of wildlife, so put away food, the squirrels and chipmunks are adept at doing camper b and e's! There are elk and bear so keep your eyes open on hikes. You can get cell phone calls and some tv, 4Glte Internet was spotty.

  I've been camping at Clear Lake since 1961. Back when it was a county park located across the lake on the now day use area. My siblings and I never wanted to go anywhere else inspite of outhouses and pump your own water. My kids were the same way. The spring fed lake is quite cold, although on 90 deg+ days it sure feels good, (that coldness also helps prevent seaweed growth)
  
  My kids are now grown and we coordinate our vacay time to camp at Clear Lake together. We meet the same campers year after year and many have become long term friends.
  
  Clear Lake is a little piece of heaven.
