Took my daughter and some friends camping for her birthday over the summer and they had a blast. The campsites were the right size for us and close to restrooms which was a plus for us. Being able to swim outside of business hours as a camper was nice as well.

We spent Memorial Day weekend on the beach and canoeing the lake. The rates are extremely affordable and the park is clean, the staff are friendly, and the view is beautiful. We rented two canoes and enjoyed canoeing across the lake and back with our two boys. The beach area is clean and there is plenty of shade around the perimeter to lay a picnic blanket or even barbecue.

It was a great place for camping. You get free swimming passes to swim in the lake. When we went it was not crowded at all. Lots of hiking trails. Did see a black bear while hiking which was great. Play ground could be updated it was outdated. Everyone was super friendly.

Nice park with an interesting and fun welcome center. Great for boating. Very good hiking & biking trails. Also has nice places to have a picnic while listening to the birds and watching the squirrels play.

It was nice, I stayed in cabin 7. The view is stunning, lakefront. Had a fire in the fireplace one night. The front porch is screened, keeping out the biting bugs.

The shower head will peel your skin off, terrible, terrible, terrible, aweful disappointing shower. The bed is only a double bed, where most of the State Park cabins have queen beds.

I liked my stay fine, but probably won't return due to the double beds, so my husband and I have to sleep in separate beds. I don't like that at all. The bedroom has plenty of room for a king or queen size bed.

Very nice campground. 4 sections. Only 1 section for big campers. Would be 5 star if they would finish the expansion that was started. Very nice beach and marina. Many trails for hiking and biking.

Fun for the whole family! The staff at the beach area could have better customer service skills, but no biggie. Restrooms are often disgusting just wear shoes. I like that they offer nature "classes" (showcases may be the better term) for kids. Overall safe environment, but doors should be kept locked and valuables up when camping. No need for extreme measures, just common sense when in a public place. There's the occasional 'rough neck brawl' but nothing too extreme and really par for the course. Overall, I love that we have this in our area!

Have been coming here for over 25 years to camp. Brought our kids and now have been bringing our grandkids. Beautiful, clean and nice swimming areas. Our last trip however was not the best as they pretty much ran us into our tent at 10 pm. We come with extended family we don't get to see often so this really put a damper on our trip. So although the rules say it's only quiet time at 10 you best be prepared to get in your tent and go to sleep. Sad because some of our best times camping have been spent after dark around the camp fire. Although this was the only drawback of our trip and maybe the security for the weekend we were there was just on a big power trip, we won't be back. Too many other places to go. As far as the response below that says it was due to complaints I have this to say. It wasn't just us. EVERYONE near us that was outside after 10 was paid a visit and told to be quiet. We had nice neighbors and compared notes.

Stopped here overnight traveling from NC to NJ. Beautiful campground, huge sites, impeccably clean grounds and bathhouse. The host and staff deserve a thumbs up for a great job! Hopefully we will be able to return someday and spend some time here!

Fantastic man-made lake. State park offers fishing, camping, boating, playgrounds, trails, a small beach w/lifeguard in season(pay additional price for entry), and lots of beautiful VA wildlife. It's great to just take a drive in and stop to feed the ducks (research proper food choices as bread is loved but not too good for them). There are boats and cabins to rentand stores outside/in for snacks/basics/souvenirs. They hold various programs during the Summer and celebrations! You can rent covered tables for a cookout to celebrate a wedding, birthday, or such. Plenty of fast food/diners/gas stations/hotels outside park. Great vacation spot. Fishing tournaments take place as well as free kids fishing day. So much to do and see!! If you visit out of season, pay fee in envelope at entrance booth. Always clean up your mess and make sure camp fires are out. Enjoy!
