What a great place. The FIRST place I saw KISS in concert with their makeup on. I will never forget the road trip and the concert. I wish it was still around.
I really loved watching games inside the igloo, the atmosphere was amazing, and it's creative design is just stunning
The "CIVIC ARENA" was an INSTITUTION in the CITY of PITTSBURGH. It was Home to The PITTSBURGH PIPERS, PITTSBURGH RENS, PITTSBURGH CONDORS, PITTSBURGH SPIRIT, PITTSBURGH CHIEFS (a roller derby team) & The BIRTH of The PITTSBURGH PENGUINS. PITT & DUQUESNE would play their POPULAR "CITY GAME" there. Then, The "CIVIC ARENA" became "MELLON ARENA" because Money was NOW allowed to talk & the Arena CHANGED Names. A lot of PEOPLE weren't HAPPY about that change, but IT HAPPENED. There were WRESTLING MATCHES, BOXING MATCHES, along w/ CUSTOM CAR SHOWS, SINATRA & THE RAT PACK sang there. ELTON JOHN, ELVIS PRESLEY, BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE Among other CLASSIC ACTS Appeared there. So MUCH TALENT & Other Notables made The "CIVIC ARENA" a SPECIAL VENUE to ALWAYS TO BE REMEMBERED & WILL ALWAYS TO BE CHERISHED. Please FORGET that "SUDDEN DEATH" was filmed there, OBVIOUSLY OTHERS HAVE.
Fun
Great parking but sad it was a such a Pittsburgh icon
