This zoo is huge! Very nice zoo it was awesome. The food inside was awful tho I dont suggest even trying it 😂 I loved that you could walk in the cage with the birds and the graffiti got close enough you could almost pet them. Loved how the had different trails that had certain types of animals & the trails made you feel like you was actually in the mountains some what. Very nice!
Great place for the whole family. This zoo is well maintained and the staff are always nice. The prices are fair and the membership programs are awesome for even better deals. Its such a large well done zoo. It had so much that I wasn't expecting. Even a butterfly exhibit and 3D theater. The animals seem well taken care of as well. So many beautiful ones to see plus the scenery of the zoo itself its worth walking around just to view. The food is also very good from the small vendors available. I would recommend to any age. Its well worth the trip out. 10/10 reccomend
I had an opportunity to visit in September 2020 on my way to Cleveland, Ohio. I thoroughly enjoyed myself here. Lots to see and do. This Zoo will make a child or adult of any age happy. Well worth the cost of admission and parking. They do have security patrols in the parking lot which made me feel safer visiting.
I have not planned a trip to the CINCINNATI Zoo and Botanical gardens as of yet. What I can see from a street view point it looks to me really beautiful, if you and your love ones are planning day of animal name games, or flower to plants search games, I suggest going to the zoo. This place is so nostalgic to me I must go as well.
I went mostly to see Fiona and was not disappointed. The zoo is great. I suggest you buy Fiona souvenirs by the gift shop right by the food court because I was so surprised that by the time I got to the exit about 10 minutes after closing they were putting everything away and I thought they would stay open a little later. I know people want to go home, but I also know the zoo needs our money we spend on souvenirs! Great zoo, good food, wonderful animals and stunning grounds
This is one of the nicest zoos I've been to. They make great use of natural terrain and artificial boundaries to make it look a lot bigger than it really is.
I grew up in the Cincinnati area and have been going to the zoo for about 50 years now...it's changed quite a bit in that time, but it has some great exhibits and really good programs for education and breeding endangered animals.
My family are members and we go about once a month. We like to take our time, pick out a handful of animals to see each trip, and spend some time watching them, their behavior, and talking with the kids about why they may act certain ways or have different colors.
The zoo has handlers that go around to different buildings or areas of the zoo and show small animals to the guests and answer questions about them. My daughter likes seeing all the different kinds of snakes and comparing how ones that live in a desert may have scales that feel different from ones that live near water.
We came all the way from Texas to see baby Fiona, but it was too cold. We called the zoo before booking our trip and were assured that even if it was too cold for the hippos most of the other animals would be out.
There are more people staffing the zoo and cold visitors than there are animals.
We feel like we are visiting a deserted zoo.
The lights at night were awesome, but if you are coming to see the animals, wait until April.
We wish we would have been given an honest assessment when we called.
I love the zoo! My daughter loves it too. I bought a family membership shortly after my daughter was born. Even though our daughter wasn't old enough to be aware of any of the animals yet, this was a great place to go to get out of the house. Now she's a year old and loves seeing all the animals. The price of membership has gone up around $50 from last year, but it's still worth it to us. The number of times we visit per year more than covers the cost of membership. Plus, with the gold membership we've been able to take a lot of friends for free throughout the year.
Of course food and drinks inside the zoo are pretty expensive. It's great that you can buy a souvenir plastic cup for around $6 and then, with the membership discount, refill the cup for $.89 whenever you want. The zoo has soft serve ice cream at several locations. I wish they'd offer a souvenir ice cream dish that you could get refilled whenever you visit for a discounted price. I and all the other parents I go here with would really appreciate that.
This zoo has an excellent variety of animals. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged and the animals seem content. They have a solar awning above a large portion of their parking lot. This helps to keep cats cool and generates electricity. They do a lot of good for many different species in and out of the zoo. A season pass is a good investment if you plan to visit more than once. You get free parking and discounts on food and merchandise on top of unlimited visits with the pass.
This is my first time to the Cincy zoo. I did enjoy all the animals but many were in very small areas compared to most zoos. The grounds and building lack ongoing maintenance and need updating. Encountered dozens of staff and only 3 even looked at me or said anything. No happy faces! The didn't seem busy as most of them were just walking by me. Several others commented about eating places being close. Almost all were closed on my visit.
Very nice zoo with lots of different animals and habitats. It was clean and well managed. The staff seemed to genuinely care about the animals. The only animals not out were the gorilla world and the manatees. If you go you should definitely get the tickets that let you do all of the extra rides. They are definitely worth it. My kids loved the train ride. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the dining options. There was really only one main dining venue open and it was very crowded, over priced (the food was good but the portions were extremely small. $7 for 2 small tenders and a handful of fries is a bit ridiculous. My family of 4 ate for 40 and that was having my children share a meal) so if you can bring your lunch to eat. Otherwise one of the best zoos in the area.
A fantastic zoo experience amidst a well maintained botanical paradise. The animals are in natural settings and seem truly content, even playful. The 3-month old baby black rhino was adorable. The paths between exhibits are an attraction all their own. Lots of pleasant scenery and shade. Plenty of good choices available for food and snacks -- I highly recommend the pub style soft pretzels available only at The Watering Hole near the main entrance! Be sure and arrive at the zoo early, especially on weekends. You'll miss some of the crowds and the animals will be more active.
I love this zoo! SO MUCH!! And now I love it even more because I can share it with my husband and little boy.
I grew up visiting this Zoo, so of course I have a lot of memories here. I’ve also seen how much it’s changed and all the renovations they’ve made.
We recently decided to buy a pass and we went all out. There are three different levels/price points. We went for the biggest and best because we wanted parking (which is $10) to be included and we wanted to be able to bring as many people as possible. With other passes, both card-holders have to be present to get in two guests. But with this one, I could go without my husband when he’s working and still get four family members or friends in with me!
This Zoo really has a lot of great animals to see in some pretty cool habitats. The elephants, giraffes, wolves, big cats, bird house, reptile house, jungle trail with all the monkeys and the lemurs just to name a few.
Whether you have a membership or not, check their events calendar. I can’t wait to take my kiddo to HallZooween and the Festival of Lights this year! And during the summer, they frequently offer discounted or free afternoons (and sometimes a concert!). Considering how expensive this place is, that’s a great time for those without a pass to come. If you do have a pass, definitely come early to get your parking spot before the rest of the crowd.
Didn’t know what to expect. We were on a family vacation to see The Ark and Creation Museum and my wife and son wanted to go to the Cincinnati Zoo after seeing reviews and seeing the goods responses from it. This. Place. Was. Awesome! We spent the WHOLE day here. Arrived @ 10:30am and left around 4:30. If you have kids they’ll probably enjoy themselves greatly. My son LOVED this. Going from one animal to the other trying to find them wherever they we in there in-habitat. Since being there all day we packed lunch and drank water there. The Zoo is HUGE which I didn’t expect. The amount of animals they have here was unexpected. Bathrooms were in pretty good places to reach when needed. Staff were pleasant. For the price this Zoo is well worth the money! Very well put together!
Nice zoo! As a zoology major I love visiting zoos and seeing the conservation work being done! I had just gone to the San Diego zoo ( which is amazing) and I thought this might be a let down, but it was not! Most of the exhibits were spacious, and well put together. They are redoing the gorilla exhibit, so it will be safer for visitor and better for the gorillas! This place is very kid friendly. My only complaint was that some of the exhibits were quite small and empty (the bears in particular)and although I'm not sure how large there behind the scenes area was this might make you a bit sad as a viewer. Overall I would say definitely visit and support the work at this zoo!
I had a great time here. It was pretty crowded, but that's what you expect at the zoo. There were lots of cool animals on display, and I particularly enjoyed the red pandas. My only complaint is that food and drinks are outrageously priced, but that's expected at places like this. I will probably go back when Fiona is big enough to be seen.
Amazing!!! You would first think a zoo in the middle of a city and as small as it is must be a joke. No you are mistaken. They are voted year after year for being the most beautiful and peaceful zoo for a reason. They don't have much space and they know it so they built the park in a way that the creator must have been a master at Tetris as a child. The animals have plenty of room and the enclosures are very roomy and beautiful. It took us only 2 hours to see the whole place but we were very happy with it. I recommend the penguins. They're my boys
I spend a lot of my days with the kids here. The Cincinnati zoo is one of those places where you can go from open to close and not see everything they have to offer. So there's always something new.
The staff is helpful and friendly and they're always improving and adding onto it. They also do a lot for conservation and teaching people about how to live a greener lifestyle. A lot of the zoo, in fact is powered by solar panels, which cover their parking area, so they're serving to keep your car shaded for a majority of the day too, which is really good if you have a cooler or something in your car.
Additionally they have great member benefits and discounts on food, services, and gift shops. If you can avoid going on a weekend, I would, as its super duper crowded.
Cincinnati zoo is one of the best wildlife and botanical area that I've visited. It has a huge variety of flora and fauna. It's not very expensive yet you get to see all kinds of animals, reptiles, birds, fishes, insects, etc just in the one place. They also have animal chats where you get to see, touch or interact with the animals. It's a must visit in you're anywhere around Cincinnati.
Do take the train ride for a speedy over view of some of the attractions.
The zoo has many stops where you can sit and have a snack.
All in all, an excellent experience.
