We both had the seafood soup. I was disappointed.
But the goat cheese, honey and lavender appetizer was amazing.
Very pricey.
Food was good but service was terrible. Very slow even though it was not busy
Great food and service! Beautiful atmosphere. Location is not so good in DTLA.
I had a wonderful experience at this place, people were great, food was awesome and need I say more about the drinks?!
Fantastic experience! We tried 5 items. Bone marrow was rich but was cut with radish side. I love steak tartar this was normal French faire nothing exceptional. Salmon and lentils was exceptional. Highlight for me was the pork belly and frise salad.
Great food, very friendly people. Little pricey but it's trendy right now. Nice restaurant.
We like to sit outside on warm summer nights when we go to restaurants. They have outside seating but it's uncomfortable, only small plants separate the seating and street, and there's no wind break. It's like being in a wind tunnelthe food was very good, not fabulous, and pricy wine.
Service was excellent. We'll go back but not for awhile.
Came here with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and food. Had a croque madame and it was perfect. Nice service and cool setting.
Great place to come to catch up with an old friend. We came during a weekday dinner right when it opened, so no one was there and we were seated instantly. The service was great, and the food was superb. Definitely a great place to come for special occasions.
It was just ok. Not as good as it used to be in it's heyday. Pretty good French food and good selection. Cocktail was ok, not great.
As good as it gets. The kind of place you come to at 6pm to celebrate a personal special occasion with only yourself. Or perfect super early date before it gets crowded.
I made 5:30pm Saturday reservations for my boyfriends birthday. It wasn't busy yet and we were accommodated as soon as we got there even though we were about 10 minutes late.
Church and State reminds me a lot of more casual Bouchon. This place really is a treat and should be treated as such. The high quality meal and price point reflect this. This isn't your "go every Saturday quick dinner" place. It really is for more specialized events without the dressy affair.
The waiters were great, polite, and attentive. The red snapper and Bouilabaise were fantastic. We also had 2 cocktails that were equally fantastic. And they remembered that it was my boyfriends birthday and he received a complementary dessert.
If you're looking to take someone on a very special dinner date I highly recommend this restaurant. The whole bill for dinner was just under $100. The only negative about this place is that is does get very loud. By the time we left the restaurant the whole place was packed and the noise level was pretty intense.
