Affordable selections, friendly staff, good food! Everything was delicious. Almost everything was under $10. They do have happy hour M-F from like 3-6pm, it was 20% off specialty sushi rolls. For 2 specialty rolls, sesame chx entree (with rice & salad), 2 ramen bowls, & 4 drinks, it came out to a little over $50 (not including tip). Our server was very friendly, considering we had a toddler making a giant mess. We didn't wait very long for food either on a Friday night. We definitely reccommend.

Ordered from ubereats and am decently impressed. Not bad enough for 2 stars but not good enough for more than 3. Tempura wasn't crunchy, was soggy, but that could be because of the wait to get it from delivery. Curry was okay. I may be biased because I have had delicious curry in Japan. Chicken is mostly dark meat and was very chewy, mostly gristle. Crunchy roll was very well made. Great value for the the price on the chicken teriyaki and crunch roll, husband ate it without leaving me any! Miso soup was watery and sad. No seaweed or tofu just green onion. Overall decent, not amazing but will go again.

Yesterday my fiance and daughter and I ate there. Probably the only thing we hate about the place is the parking lot, but it's not really the restaurants fault. We found street parking and a little shortcut through the bushes near the Starbucks drive thru entrance. The waiter was nice and the food came out fast and was very good tasting.

    I recommend this place.

My wife and mother in law loved the food here so it wasn't our first time there, and after the last time we won't be going back. The waitress, in all her infinite wisdom, set my hot soup in front of our 8 month old son. Before we had the chance to move it away, his hand went directly into it. He proceeded to scream in pain and the waitress walked away as if nothing happened. There was no apology or concern for our screaming son. I grabbed him and immediately headed for the exit so I didn't do something I would regret. We will not be going back which is unfortunate because the food was decent.

I used to love this place, The food is excellent and the prices are great, but lately the service has really been lacking :/ I've stopped going because of it I might try again in a few months, but this last time was just enough for me right now. They weren't busy, but the service was. Sllllllloooooow and unpleasant. Sad, because before a few months ago this was easily our "go to" on the weekend. Their crunch roll is great and their miso so is delicious.

In a state of desperation to find good food to feed hungry kids while road tripping, we found this Jem! We LOVE sushi and teriyaki and this place was amazing. The service was great, the food was delicious and the prices were kinda ridiculously low for the type of food and quality. I was honestly expecting a different experience when I saw how affordable the menu items were but it was absolutely delicious! Saved to my favorites so we can definitely return.

I came to this restaurant 10 years ago and was greatly disappointed with the curry dish. Yet, I came back to give it another chance since so much time has passed. One of the waiters quickly attended to the party in front of me and myself to take any seat. My waitress/server came quickly to take my order for drinks. She came back with my soda and asked if I was ready to order. I said yes, and apparently she didn't hear me and just stared at me. I repeated my response, but louder. She took my order and within minute she brought my miso soup. I stirred to spread the soy and to my surprise there wasn't one piece of tofu in it. Sure plenty of chopped scallions and bits of what I believe were tempura which melted into the soup. The flavor was pathetic, because it tasted like something that was instant not actually made. My main dish was the chicken curry bowl. However my waitress did not give me a heads up or a polite warning that she was bringing my bowl. Instead she bumped my arm over while I was on my phone. Thankfully it wasn't hot or they will be seeing me later in court. My waitress then asked if I was done with my soup which was empty of miso, and was full my soup spoon and trash. Which signaled that I was done with the soup, yet she still asked. Now it was the test again to see if they improved on the flavor of the curry. First, two pieces of steamed broccoli on top of my curry. Unnecessary, which threw off flavor from the curry for a short while. Second, the flavor of the curry itself was very terrible, and I have tasted many places around San Diego county and Japan itself. The carrots were cut into thin pieces instead of thick blocks. Lastly, the chicken was grilled and the taste from the grill marks destroyed the curry so-called flavor. However, I noticed in one of the pieces of chicken it was a little pink, but I thought it was the curry. Then I treaded carefully with the other pieces, and yes I found other pieces that were pink almost red, but these pieces were not covered in the sauce. My waitress came back with my side dishes of fried sushi rolls. I told that my chicken wasn't fully cooked and I refuse to eat it. Even the sushi seemed to be wrong since the "chuck norris" roll didn't have eel and the "ex boyfriend" roll seemed to have spam instead of crab. She immediately said that she get the manager. She walked over to a lady and told her a few things which then my waitress came back and asked if I wanted something else. I said no, and also refused to eat anything else. She retored saying that the sushi was fully cooked. If you cannot sear or grill chicken properly then I will not trust any other dish that is supposed to be cooked. I was not charged and I left greatly dissatisfied. So customer beware of your food when coming here.

Ordered spider roll to-go. $8 for 5 pieces of sushi is pretty steep. Rice was soggy. Fish had that not so fresh smell and taste. Roll also came with tempura shrimp that they didn't bother to remove from the shell. Pretty bad all around.

I love this place. Great portions and great prices. It's my favorite spot for ramen and yakisoba by far. Their udon is good too! Great lunch spot, and also a fun dinner spot if you're dying for som Japanese food but don't want to wait an hour for a table.

This is nostalgic place for me. Kind of a mix of Hawaiian and Japanese food. If you like mabo or curry sauce in your ramen and katsu then this place is for you.
