I had to take my 1 year old son to Children's Mercy because he was having difficulty breathing. Within an hour he was seen by an emergency room physician where they confirmed he had RSV. They admitted him for 2 1/2 days while he recovered. The nurses and doctors checked on him and myself very often and were so pleasant to be around. I felt like they genuinely cared about us and his recovery. Each time they came in to check on him they asked if there was anything they could get me. They kindly brought me water and Gatorade while I was there waiting for him to get better.

Children’s Mercy is an absolutely wonderful place to take your child. Our 2 month old was sick with RSV/bronchiolitis and every single nurse, doctor, and respiratory therapist that worked with us provided great care for our son. Everyone took time to explain what was going on and what our next steps would be. I never felt confused or unsure about what was happening. Our son’s care team acted quickly when his condition changed and helped get him all of the support he needed. I felt like everyone there truly cared about our son and family.
Although I hope my children don’t end up sick enough to go to the hospital again, I can rest easy knowing that Children’s Mercy Hospital will be there to help.

The hospital itself is an absolute 5 star facility. They provided incredibly compassionate care for our newborn when he had to have surgery to correct issues with Hirschsprung's Disease, both the initial surgery in 2007, and the reversal surgery in 2008. Everyone we encountered from the front desk staff, to the cafeteria staff, to the nurses, to the doctors were amazing. I can't say enough good about the hospital itself.

Their website, on the other hand, is complete garbage and not user friendly at all when it comes to account management. It's nearly impossible to reset a password without calling to do so. I'd give the website a 1 overall.

My son had surgery here with Dr. Bowlin and his team. Wow, just an incredible experience during such a scary time for me. Every person I came into contact with was incredibly kind and helpful and patient. I just can’t say enough good things. A passing employee helped me find my way through the hospital and helped me carry my stroller. Nurses pushed my stroller while I carried my son after surgery. Everyone spoke with kindness. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s what I needed more than anything when my 10mo is going under anesthesia. I felt so comfortable. 10/10. My son was in incredible hands. So grateful to them. I appreciate every ounce of kindness I was given.
Even the receptionists at the same day surgery clinic, who had call after call, and parent after parent walking in, was so so kind and patient without a ounce of annoyance.
    Just an incredible hospital.

The Doctors are inviting. The building is inviting. The pleasant but calming tone of the building makes it perfect for a child who has never been to the doctors. I love how they decorated the place. The doctors are also upbeat and are trained to look their best to not bring distress to the family and child when something serious occurs. They explain things that are hard for kids to understand gently and easily. They truly care at CMH

Not happy at all with my child's care. They don't seem to take a child's pain seriously. It's like she is another piece of paper. Plus god forbid you miss a call back. Another day or more of phone tag. Ask to speak to a person you get to leave a message. Doesn't matter if your kid hurts. They have no problem putting them off.

We have had an overall good experience with Children's Mercy and their doctors, but I have never experienced ANY website as bad as their online bill paying. Save yourself and just call to pay. It is insanely bad.

On our statements it even says "new and improved" bill paying. I'd hate to see what they had before.

I went here myself as a teenager and stayed for months at a time. They always made it feel like home and took care of me when my parents had to work. They helped me through a difficult time in my life. Our 3 year old son has been going to CMH for Cystic Fibrosis. Dr. Carver and the staff at the clinic are so wonderful. You would think kids hate hospitals but not this hospital. It is a kid friendly environment with helpful people everywhere. Our son gets excited when it's time to go there. We are so lucky to have such a great hospital with some of the best doctors take care of our son!
