I have been here twice for shear madness. Always a classy experience. Only issue is parking. It's very costly near to playhouse.
The architecture is wonderful, the building is beautiful. My only gripes with the place is the seats are small and the spacing between the rows don't leave enough leg room, at least in the upper rows.
Very kind staff. Organized well so we got our tickets checked quickly. Smaller than I expected but cozy.
Do yourself a favor and put your phone on airplane mode or turn it off once you go down the stairs into the basement theater. There's no signal and you're there to enjoy the show anyway. Oh and better yet use the bathroom beforehand since the one here is less than desirable. It is all the way on the top left side with a few turns down a mini-labyrinth. Real estate is pricey so the bathrooms are extremely cramped. They also have this raised platform for the actual 2 toilet stalls. Why is this necessary for the porcelain throne? You also need to be careful swinging the door open since it will block the person in the other stall from getting out.
Of the many theaters I've visited in Boston this one is a notch above the Orpheum in terms of comfort. If you have front row seats you're sitting a table of 4 or 5 chairs probably with strangers and the chairs are pushed together so close they are touching. (No elbow room!) They are also eclipsing the table next to you. The red chairs farther back are in the foldout movie set director chairs. (Is that the correct term?) Not sure if they are more comfortable but they look roomier. I have only been to this venue for Shear Madness. (Check out the review for that as well.) However, I imagine for Blue Man Group (on the list of things to do) they have splash zone warnings along with ponchos.
They have a full bar in the back, but I'm not one to pay exorbitant prices at any venue if it can be avoided. Just enjoy the show folks in this extremely intimate setting. Aside from the security upon entering who gave me grief for non-existent metal in my jacket all of the other staff were relatively helpful.
Funny, silly and exciting all at the same time. Family friendly! I recommend!
Smaller venue. Similar to a large black box type theater. Not fancy, but fun to go to
Went to the Blue Man Group's show here in the Charles. Relatively small and intimate theatre. Lends itself well to the interactivity of the show. Almost every seat is a good seat.
I preferred the seating below over the balcony as you end up more of a part of the action.
Entertainment to the max! A fun show full of musical talent and comedy. There is no talking the entire show and I didn't even miss it! Very well done and so much fun!
I attended a Blue Man concert at the playhouse and not only was the performance spectacular but the staff was friendly, polite and helpful. Seating was excellent. Easy to see the show in floor seats, comfortable too.
Went with my sister, my brother and his family to see The Blue Man Group perform here. We went to see them because it was a birthday present for my nephew. Our seats were on the side and up top. this was the first time that I have ever seen them perform. The show was really awesome and my nephew loved his birthday present. I love how the members of Blue Man Group go down to the lobby to let people take pictures with them.
This really is a 5 star venue. The staff was attentive an kind and really cared about our experience. There isn't a bad seat in teh house and the view and sound was awesome. We saw blue man, which I wasn't overly impressed with but still enjoyed. This place is a nice venue with full bar, snacks, and not a bad seat in the house. Its intimate and nobody is very far from the action.
