I love Charles Mills Lake, grew up nearby, had great memories fishing their with family as a child so I will never say anything bad about the area However, it is beautiful countryside, peaceful, the park has been compengated by the EPA and other governmental entities and has been altered. One side of the dam is for boating and the other is a good place to quietly fish, there are restroom facilities, picnic tables a nice walking path. In all it is worth the time. It is near Malabar Farms and Mohegan State Park.

We have been coming here with our kayaks since we moved here 15 years ago. It is a 10 horsepower limit shallow lake with a lot of inlets so it is perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. The campground is a little more expensive than most, but it is directly on the water. The rangers patrol often so it feels very safe and calm for families. This is not a campground for partiers which to me makes it even better and more relaxing for our family to enjoy. They now have a beautiful activities building with a bunch of free events for kids. The beach is nice as far as small lake beaches go, and they have a fun fireworks show each year.

Cool place to be during the day but not the camp the Rangers are always driving by staring at you it makes it hard to have fun so no party or fun just sleep so really there was no point in camping but nice place

I wanted to give Charles Mill lake 3 stars due to the lake itself. Its not very clean, LOTS of boats, and overall not a great swimming lake. I opted for 4 due to the campground. The main campus is nice and very large. The eagle point campground is a bit smaller, with playgrounds, a swimming pool, basketball, etc. The showers at the campground are ok at best. Nothing special. The rules seemed pretty strict, rather conservative. Good Fishing. Went out kayaking and fishing and ended up getting blasted by waves due to the shear amount of larger boats.

There are more full time spots than RV spots. The place looks more like a trailer park than an RV park. We called in the morning and asked if they had a spot for a 36ft TT. They said plenty. Called less than an hour away and they said no problem. We arrived and were told just pick out a spot and then come register. We found one that was tight and decided we rather stay at a Walmart parking lot for the night than here.

Lots were way too close to each other and ground was way to steep to call some of the lots usable. We were unfortunate enough to get one of these lots.

I did appreciate an option of a shower with hot water running by the registry. I don't think that this will make me come back again though.

We bought our boat at Charles Mill because our salesperson Mark took great time to explain all of the features to us and was very patient with my wife who had lots of questions. But it didn't end there either. The intire marina staff are equally as friendly and makes our visits to the store pleasant as well. We keep our boat at there docks and have never had any issues. It is convenient with easy access to the rest of lake. We truly enjoy our fellow boating neighbors and friends. Come on out and see the outdoor beauty of Charles Mills.
