I went because of the Botanical Garden. Should have known when I asked the ticket taker and he said no specific garden, just part of the zoo. There were a few good spots, primarily the herb garden with the spirals. This is definitely geared more for children than plant lovers. Nice zip wire, good playground. Ample clean restrooms. Although open until 5, many animal exhibits were closed by 3.

Its a sweet little zoo. The staff are really great - you can tell they enjoy working here. We come every year around Christmas. We went ziplining, saw all the animals, went in a train ride, ate lunch, played giant checkers, fed the goats and llamas, smelled the herbs and flowers and played in the water park (kids are 7 and 9 and still enjoy it even though no pool or slides). Fun for the whole day!

It's a wonderful zoo, tucked away under a peaceful canopy of trees giving much needed shade in the Florida heat. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The animals are beautiful and well cared for and the new bear exhibit is well done and very informative. They offer many additional activities not generally offered by zoos like zip-lining, an awesome splash pad, a working miniature train, a merry-go-round, and so much more. We love it so much, we bought annual passes to go back with our little one whenever we want. We highly recommend it.

Super small and overpricedgo to Tampa's zoo it was may more to offer for the price and its bigger. I went here and it seemed really tiny. The animals were barely interacting and they looked quite depressed. They were not very active and didn't move much and certain exhibits in the zoo had animals in small spaces. I did enjoy the leopards and the iguanas though but that's pretty much it. I like the fact that they seem to be taking good care and make sure the animals are in good health like Tampa's zoo but when it comes to environment i feel bad for the animal's. But the service was good much like Tampa's zoo. So i will give it 2 stars.

Cute medium sized zoo. Great for families with kids. Water feature for hot days and parents have chairs in shade! Petting zoo, interactions with real zoo animals, sitting and eating areas everywhere. Shaded walkways. Animal in plain view in their own habitat. Not crowedobserve an animal as long as you like. Loved itwe will go again!

Good place for an afternoon visit, not a whole day experience. We have the annual passes because there is still a reciprocal agreement where you get half off at the bigger zoos in Tampa and Jacksonville. Additionally, it's a nice place to visit for a couple hours. It's our low key Sunday outing.
Some thoughts though, it is a SMALL zoo. They have improved a lot in the last couple decades and most of the animals are in reasonable enclosures. When I was going to this zoo as a kid, the lions were in the same size cages that the monkeys are in today. However, there are still a few enclosures that leave you going, huh, who thought that was a good idea? The cougar enclosure comes to mind specifically. BUT, most of the enclosures are decent, which means that they do not have many large animals as it's a small zoo. If you like lemurs, they have several different kinds.
Another thought, do not go here specifically for the trick or treating. We have passes so we were just at the zoo because it was Sunday. However, people who were there to trick or treat had to have been disappointed. We were there for two hours and stopped at 7 stations and my daughter got a dumdum lollipop, a mini kitkat and 2 Hershey kisses. It was a pretty meager haul and plenty of disappointed children who came out in full costume for a couple pieces of candy rattling in the bottom of their trick or treat buckets. It seemed like half of the candy stations were businesses advertising and handing out a single piece of candy after you listened to their little spiel.
In other words, perfectly fine if you were already going to the zoo or had annual passes; total waste of money if you got your kids all dressed up and then spent $75 for your family to go specifically because there was going to be candy.response / report this review -

Love this Zoo. I have had a year pass for several years in a row. There are always friendly zoo helpers around to tell you about the animals and almost every time you get a close encounter with a different animal. It’s all shaded and stroller friendly. The petting area is great. You get to feed lamas goats sheep and some kind of an ox. Most animals seem very happy here. The playgrounds are fun and not crowded.

we went here for a friends kids birthday party. The people doing the stuff for the birthday party were nice and friendly. The zoo itself was quite depressing though as all of the animals were in very small enclosures. The giraffe enclosure had no grass at all in and just a couple of poles with and then it was also right next to the cheetah pen so the poor cheetahs were just prowling up and down the cage starring at it. it really was terrible.

Favorite part is that you get to feed the giraffe the cost for the lettuce it's a high $5 for three pieces of lettuce. But the experience it was great. Nice surroundings they have updated the bear walk way areas but other things needs to be updated soon. Plants needs maintenance. Loved all the animals that they had in this location. And most of all the staff was great but sadly the girls who were selling the tickets were so dry and depressed. I believe they need to do a parking lot. The parking lot it's currently pure dirt and going back to our cars was a terrible experience since the dirt/mud got wet and it got all over our car.

This Zoo has it all including delicious shaved ice. We were able to see all the animals from a safe distance. Even though it was a little warm outside when we visited, this Zoo had lots of trees that create lots of shade along the paths. I can't wait till they open the bear exhibit! The entire staff is friendly and very informative about the animals and displays. We will be returning!

Its a nice park to stroll through and the ropes course and train are nice attraction for the kids. The zoo is small and focused more on birds than other animals. The giraffes and big cats (leopard, jaguars and cheetahs) are definitely worth the $20 admission.

Such a waste of money! We decided to visit a zoo while visiting Orlando and I could've honestly seen more animals at the local pet store. This place has the nerve to say they have over 400 species of animals but failed to mention they were not live. Listen, the struggle has to be real if you think you can fool people with cardboard animals. Come on now, really? I wish I could give this place 0 stars because they really need to get it together but I guess this one star will go towards the lovely giraffes that were actually real. I want my money back. You have to do better Orlando!

We are annual passholders and we often go to the zoo; my children love it! This past weekend, we had my son's 4th birthday party at the zoo. I also have an 8 month old, so it was nice to have everything planned out and hosted for us. The pizza and drinks were good, the room was fun and festive, and the dancing/games were great! The coordinator (Mikaela) was so accommodating and had a great attitude. We had a fantastic time with our Rhino encounter -- that was so neat and something we never thought we'd have the experience of doing. All of our guests had a great time -- adults and children. Thanks so much for a great time!

This is a small but attractive zoo. It's easily walkable in just an hour or so. Exhibits are nice and we'll maintained. There is a mini train and a carousel at the entrance. There's also a nice picnic area right outside the zoo itself, perfect for bringing lunch. Since the zoo itself won't allow outside food, the picnic area is ideal for grabbing a cooler from the car and saving a few bucks. There is also an over head obstacle course with zip lines located on the outside, it looks fairly large and fun but I didn't get to try it out on my visit.
Inside the zoo there are a good variety of exhibits for its size. Giraffes, rhinos and the variety of big cats where the stand outs here. No Zebras, only a couple of small monkeys and no elephants are disappointing. There is also a lizard and snake house and, being Florida, loads for gators.
There are lots of opportunities for interaction. A petting zoo will loaded with farm animals will provide you with food to feed the animals for$1.50, the giraffe exhibit nearby provides a chance to get close and feed a giraffe for $5. A little pricey but especially worth it for young kids.
I do have to mention the size of many enclosures was very small for the animals housed. This is particularly true of all the big cats. They have very little room to move and it's quite frankly a little sad.
The other big negative is the price of food and drink. For a zoo as small as this one the prices were ridiculous. Expect to spend around $12-$15 per person if you eat a meal here.
Finally the zoo features a fantastic splash pad. It's a great way for the kids to cool off after exploring and they love it. It's bright and fun with ample shaded seating for parents.
Overall very impressive for a small zoo and worth the price of admission. If your local it's worth a visit for a great family outing. For tourists, while it's a bit further then most attractions it's also a lot more affordable. Don't expect it to compare to a big city zoo, but your kids will probably still love it.
