An authentic sleepaway girl's camp in beautiful land in Western NC. My daughter's anticipation and reflection on her time here is truly palpable. They have lots of subcultures germane to their camp alone which are adorable to partake withinI suppose all the camps do this, but Ton-A-Wandah's staff buys in whole and you can see it in the experienced girls, they love that stuff.

The grounds are rustic, rather well kept, and have a certain charm that makes the experience observed from a parent who, too, camped in their time seem most authentic; hardwood floor gym with old-school rafters, etc.

Counselors and management staff are well trained and genuinely care about the happiness of each and every camper.

There's many camps in this part of the country, but if you want your daughter to experience the way they once were, free of all the electronics which tether us so - you'll be hard pressed to find one better than Ton-A-Wandah.

I can only imagine, many years from now, if I get to see my daughter becoming a Mom to a little girl herself, and thinking for the first time if she can instill this traditional place within her own daughter's heart.

Summer has arrived and my 11 year-old daughter Katherine is back for a 3rd year at Camp Ton-A-Wandah. Not just a place, but a place in your heart, the staff and counselors are extremely knowledgeable and well trained. After all, the camp has been around since 1933.

Two and three week camping packages, Kate has once again signed up for the 3 week program. Building friendships from past years, my daughter has kept in contact with several of her fellow campers and counselors. She looks forward to camp, but not the day her 7 year old sister joins her. Sort of personal, I'm of the belief that this is something Kate want to "do alone" without pesky parents or siblings around.

The Camp Ton A Wandah summer program provides campers several dozen activities such as horseback riding, zip lining, fine arts and crafts, performing arts, dance, volleyball, basketball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, games, archery, riflery, rock climbing, high ropes, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, hiking, backpacking, field trips and much more.

A tie to nature and a deep respect for the Native Americans who originally inhabited the Blue Ridge mountains are a Camp Ton-A-Wandah inspiration behind an alliance of the "three tribes - Cherokee, Navajo and Mohawk. Handed down from generation to generation, the three tribes are among the camps oldest and most revered traditions. Kate is proud to be a "Mohawk" at Ton-A-Wandah.

Care packages and birthday parties are a plus. Parents can order "care packages" from several places in Hendersonville or plan a cabin "birthday party" for all to enjoy.

You can tell a lot of thought went into the layout of this camp. Small, quiet lake with zip line, blob, and numerous other water activities. Cabins were well maintained and close proximity to all camp action. Hope to send my daughter here next year!

I attended Camp Ton-A-Wandah as a child and it was one of my fondest memories as a child. There is something magical about the place. Now my 8 year old daughter has completed her second year there and she loves it as much as I do if not more. I highly recommend this camp!

I went to this camp as a child and now my daughter attends Camp Ton-A-Wandah. She absolutely loves it and can't wait to go back year after year. It is such a special place. The counselors she has had were amazing. She loves the food, activities, tribes, etc.
