Location is great for all of the activities in North Door County. However, the beds need to be updated. The mattress was larger than the box spring and the sheets don't stay on the bed. AC runs continously unless you turn it off. Time for some improvements.

The owners were very helpful and kind. We arrived late and found our key with a hand written note wishing us luck on our fishing trip in the morning! Great old fashioned hospitality that is hard to find.

The reservation and check in process went off without a hitch but the service from there on out left much to be desired.
After everybody in the party woke up with neck aches, we had called the office and asked for some additional pillows as the pillows they supply are VERY flat and have no padding whatsoever. We were told that they "don't have extra pillows to be throwing around and that the (3) pillows supplied (per queen bed) should be enough." SoWe didn't get any extra pillows.*
Upon arriving back to the hotel after a nice dinner out (9:00-9:30pm), we were yelled at and threatened by the drunk and disorderly (Male) owner of By The Bay. The window to our room was open on account of the air conditioner not working and we were having a few post dinner laughs as we recounted the day. We were not drinking, being disorderly or being overtly loud when the owner yelled at us through the window and told us to "shut the hell up," as he staggered by. Not quite understanding what was going on and why we were being yelled at, we exited the room to discuss what the problem was. Telling him that "we don't want any trouble" and that "we're sorry, we didn't think that we were being noisy," only infuriated the owner as he cussed us out and told us that we had already caused enough trouble by waking him up to ask for pillows.* He then proceeded to threaten us and ask us, "how would you like it if I kicked your a$$es out on the street?" We assured him that we would shut the window and that we didn't want any more trouble, but he kept on cussing at us, telling us he was going to call the police and that he was going to kick us out. Let's just say that we all went to bed with a very bad taste in our mouths.
While I was checking out the next day, I brought the incident to the attention of the female owner. She had said that it wasn't her that yelled at us so it really wasn't her problem to deal with. After telling her that we were all very unhappy about the treatment we received, she offered excuses but no apology, and gave me a very sarcastic "Thank You and bu-bye," as I walked out the door.
The location is awesome and you can walk to just about anywhere in Fish Creek proper, plus you're right across from the beach. Even though this is a prime location, the service as well as the beds and pillows left much to be desired. I will not be staying here again.
*Let me also note that their "sawdust" mattresses are also extremely uncomfortable.
