Our family was looking for an activity outside of skiing as not many of the ski slopes were open during an early season stay in Breck. Nice machines, great guide and wonderful views.
Great way to get out and see the beautiful mountains of Colorado while seeking thrills on a aggressive trail ride with professional guides.
Derrick gave us the best performance tour. Will make this a must do every time in Breck.
Just a heads up. This company doesn't actually own the snowmobiles it rents (unless things have changed this season). They broker snowmobile rentals on behalf of outfitters in the area. (A number of these outfitters are friends of mine.) People usually don't find this out until the day of their ride. Nothing wrong with this as a business model; just be aware as the customer that who you book through and who you actually deal with for your ride are two different companies. There can be disconnects between what is communicated over the phone by the broker and what is actually delivered by the outfitter.
This is the most fun for the whole family. It's a great 1st or 2nd day event. Because you can get use too the altitude. Layer and dress warm. Be sure to have no exposed skin on the face. Handle bars are heated! Wear gloves that are water and wind proof.
This was my first time going snowmobiling and I did the 2-hour performance tour. It was snowing quite heavily the days leading up to the tour (and the day of). After we changed into our gear and were heading out to the machines, the guide said there was a high avalanche risk and jokingly asked to see everyone's avalanche transceivers (it was a joke because none of the clients had them). Then all 4 guides pulled theirs out and turned them on. Clearly the transceivers should have been required safety equipment, but they were not on the suggested equipment list and the company did not hand them out. It is standard safety practice for other similar guided activities (ice climbing, mountaineering) that transceivers are required to bring your own or handed out by the company. It frankly appalled me that the guides would have safety equipment that the clients did not. I cannot recommend this company.
