I was a fan of Paper Heros, but after going to the midnight release of Doomsday Clock I am a permanent customer here. Guess I had gotten used to rude service. Oh well, the grass is greener on this side. But either way, the staff is super friendly and super eager to help. If they don't have something you can have it ordered. Definitely check this place out.

Love this shop under new management have a lot of titles. Always carry good amount of variant covers also. Very helpful and always recommending new stuff to read. I like the setup of the store and how they organized comics by publishers.

Well the first time I went in the two people working were very helpful. The store is nice size and has a good selection of comics. They even sold my a second cover version. Which I thought was pretty cool.

The second time I went in the store didn't have the comic I was looking for. I asked the girl working if they had any copies left. She said no, but she would order it, but that it would take a couple of weeks before the issue came in. Well the comic book was new, I get that it can sell out fast, but who wants to wait. I mean the new issue will be out before you get the last order one. I told her this doesn't help and ask if there was another comic book store in town. She said no and didn't seem to interested in wether I found it or not. Then she told me to have a nice day in not so friendly of ways as I left.

Luckily there was another comic book store in town. Sorry to say they will get most of my business now.

Update: This used to be my favorite location to purchase my comic books from. I knew the store had changed owners, but I hadn't had the opportunity to stop by until recently. I was heartbroken. Long gone are the little hand made trinkets, jewelry, clothing, etc for whatever your fandom may be. Long gone are the familiar faces I grew so fond of and the artistic environment this small place encouraged of it's customers. All that is left are barren walls and tables filled with D&D and Magic games. Great job on keeping the iconic "Comics" wall art, though.

Yes, I know the atmosphere will change with each new owner, but the environment that the old staff and owners brought to the store is what made me come back each time. What really turned me off about the place was that the employee (presumed-to-be-owner) behind the counter was engaged in conversation with the gentleman in front of me. It went like, "It's funny how girls are all into comic books because it is 'cool' now. I had a girlfriend once who hated them, but now since they are 'cool', all girls love them now". I clear my throat, and the guy excuses himself out of the way, as he wasn't buying anything but instead trash talking. My face shows every emotion I am feeling so I know the employee at the counter knew I was upset. He tried to compliment my purse (it's Captain Marvel), and talk to me about the comic I was about to purchase. Do you know when Charleton Heston found out Soylent Green was people? That's how I felt about my last visit at BNW. I don't think I will be going back. I'm so sick of going to comic book stores and immediately feeling outcasted simply because I am female. I can't support that. Changed my 5 stars to 2.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. When I was in the gentleman behind the counter, which I believe was the owner, was in the process of purchasing some comics. He gave fair prices and looked up the value of each one as to not rip the customer off.

This place looks small from the outside but inside is a wide selection of books in English and they have a decent Spanish boom selection. They have mostly used books which I love and they were in excellent condition. I was able to browse through because of how well they have categories labeled instead of having to ask like at other stores. I love that a bookstore in the Mission has a diverse set of reads including a thorough social justice and Newhall, CA related collection. If you're more into Science Fiction or fantasy, go to the bookstore a few doors down that's all they have.I also loved that they have a lot of gifts like maps, posters and cards.
