Wish I had known about this place earlier. Food was simply great and really well executed, the Mixologist knows how to make great cocktails and the service was spot on and we were a table of 8. Price point really fair, am so coming back

First time visiting Milwaukee, WI. Googled best restaurants in the area and Braise popped up. The food was absolutely delicious. Received more food than anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed each and every bite!!! Our server, Jared, was professional and friendly. Will be back before leaving town

The food was nothing special. We tried several different plates and nothing wowed us. Extremely over priced. The service and atmosphere was nice. I can't believe this was rated #7 in Milwaukee ' s best restaurants.

I didn't know most of the words on the menu but the food was awesome. The ambiance is perfect for a date! My boyfriend and I got to split a great bottle of wine by candle light. They also have coffee pairings with their desserts. Very neat

My wife and I truly enjoy the food here and have been to the establishment many times. Today though was our last! While the food really is excellent (hence a score above zero stars), the service is often atrocious. Today we went for lunch and waited 53 minutes for our two sandwiches and finally had to just cancel our order so we could get back to work. We were told several times that our food would be out in "just a minute" but that never happened. We were also told a couple of different reasons as to why it was taking so long. I want to make it clear that the place WAS NOT packed. There were many open and available tables inside and outside. I was a bit surprised that after we had to cancel our order they still charged us for our appetizer and lemonade. I thought that maybe after such dismal service they would want to do something to retain our business in the future. The fact that the server or manager didn't seem too upset about our poor experience was the final straw for us. Again, in fairness, the food is great but if you go expect to take a REALLY LONG lunch or dinner and if you go for dinner make sure you allow AMPLE TIME to ensure you don't miss anything you wanted to do after, like going to a movie.

As usual, outstanding interesting food. We love coming here to experience new flavors and new flavor combinations. I also love to try the craft cocktails and unique desserts.

Love this place! My favorite restaurant! I have nevèr had a dish I didn't like! Steamed pork buns are my favorite! I don't like beets, but at Braise I love their beers! They do something magical with the good! This restaurant is a hidden gem!

This is a dilemma for me. While this upscale restaurant has many great qualities, it is not a place I personally would go back to. Let me explain. I love the quiet, low key atmosphere. This is an old house that offers it's diners a place to talk quietly and enjoy the evening. The wait staff were true professionals, willing to describe each dish and offer some great wine selections to pair with the food. My problem here is MY PROBLEM. I do not like my food piled in an attempt to make it look wonderful and to meld many flavors together. I have three rather small scallops in a broth that was very good. My wife h.ad the pan fried Grouper on top of crab hash topped with a red onion vinegairette. I thought the sauce overpowered the dish, but just my style of food. I realize the foodies love this type of presentation. If you are into this style this is a wonderful restaurant

Had dinner this evening with 3 business associates. The lamb tarrine was phenomenal. The braised beef was incredibly tender. Our server was Laura M. She was very attentive with a great service attitude.

Food didn't match description on menu, service was bizarre, I froze next to the window.
The positive: Atmosphere was nice and the lighting was good.
The negative: We got a table on a Friday evening because another party had just cancelled. They were the lucky ones. As we were being greeted by the hostess the phone rang - it was another group cancelling - more lucky souls.
Our party of 4 was seated in a corner by a large window. As I sat down I immediately noticed a freezing draft down the left side of my body which was coming from the window. It was so uncomfortable (on a 10 degree day) that I had to put my down coat back on for the duration of the meal.
Service: The food arrived at weird intervals. First our parents received a plate each. About 4 minutes later my brother and I received a plate each. Everyone finished. The waitress cleared our plates and about 10 minutes later our parents received their second plates. Even my father (70 yrs old) commented on how bizarre the whole experience was.
Food: I ordered grilled leeks with potatoes. It was supposedly going to be served with a beet harissa sauce. Harissa is a North African red sauce that is incredibly spicy. When I saw the plate (covered in about 3/4 cup of sauce) I wondered if it would even be edible - but in reality, there was no spice/harissa in the sauce at all - it tasted like Heinz ketchup. The portion was small, about 1 potato and 1/2 a leek. I couldn't taste egg or onion in the dish and gave it back to the waitress virtually untouched. That's usually a passive aggressive signal that says 'this dish was sh*t' but the dish still appeared on our bill. Conclusion - I think this restaurant wants to seem sophisticated by coming up with wack-a-doo descriptions for the menu - but the reality of the food is that it is poorly executed, and probably poorly thought out in the first place.
Having lived in Paris, Rome, Berlin and now New York, I can definitely state that by international standards, this restaurant is sub-par. By Milwaukee standards, Odd Duck is better.response / report this review -

We've been to Braise twice now. They have done an excellent job working with me on my dietary needs. Every dish has been amazing! We had a large group with young kids and they helped us make the menu work for our kids as well! The staff is polite and helpful! The food is delicious! I would recommend Braise to anyone looking for great food, locally sourced, and a wonderful dining experience. I only wish there was a Braise closer to home so I could go more often.
