very rude, and difficult to work with from the start. Owner always seems mad, short and defensive. Lots of mistakes were made, and somehow it was always our fault. Super disorganized. Hard to get decision makers on the phone.
Our customers complained of getting too little meat on hogs that we brought in that weighed 250-270 lbs. It was explained to me in a very defensive and condescending manner, that we made the mistake on our cut sheets, and so that is all we got, to make those cut sheets work out.
I've spoken to others who also felt their meat came back light, and just had an overall poor experience with them. Avoid at all cost.
Terrible customer service and very hard to work with!
I am an Executive Chef with 40 years experience in the food industry. Outstanding service. We had several hogs and lambs processed at Blue Ridge Meats. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. Calls were answered or returned promptly. The packaging is fully vacuum sealed. We were cautioned while handling the bone-in products that the bone could rupture the bag and to take care when handling the packages. Thanks for the 'heads-up'. The meat has been beautifully processed, the packaging is attractive and the taste is excellent. Our customers are raving about the meat!
Very knowledgeable and excellent butchers. I’m sad they are so difficult to work with.
However they are incredibly difficult and even though they try to make a personal connection- they are not customer service oriented.
A Great place to do business. Been with them for at least 10 years with no problems. Good people and a good product.
Very unprofessional, extremely unorganized! One person calls to tell you one thing another calls to tell you another. (Order is ready, oops no it is not. we lost your cow, oops no we didn't etc.) Don't even think about asking a question in regards to your bill, woman went on a 15 minute tirade, because I tried to ask a question. Makes one wonder if there is something wrong with their bill if management will not explain the charges to them. And to answer part of the woman's tirade- YES I do think I am better and classier than you because I would not treat a customer or anyone the way you treated us. And that is o.k. that you are adding me to your "list" (yes she said they have a "list") of people not to step through your doors, could not pay me enough. Have not even tried the meat yet. May have to update once we have.
I took two sets of pigs for slaughter here. the first they messed the order up COMPLETELY! When I listed my concerns, they treated me like a criminal, A CRIMINAL when I made the mistake of going to them again, they let the carcasses hang for 14 days, 14 DAYS! And they added extra charges to the bill, and STIlLL treated me like a criminal. I have never seen such poor customer service in my life. By the way, my friends went to them and experienced similar problems.
Have never had a bad experience here. Staff polite, and animal aware. I have had had beef, veal, pork, and lamb processed by them. They DO get busy, BUT you have to be patient! Never had an issue with foreign objects or poorly wrapped or vac-packed meat. Have recommended and will continue to do so! I have used three other 'local' establishments, one of which I got someone else's beef! No one has matched their quality and animal compassion.
Very poor service, from the owner too! She made all sorts of excuses and we still ended up with a poorly made product. Our cured products were only partly cured and items were missing from our order. We have enough knowledge of the industry so we were able to understand that they were profiting off of us more than they should have been. Not sure why they think that they can treat customers that way. It is one thing to make mistakes, another to lie about them and rip off your customer. Will never use them again for anything.
*Update* Found large chunks of hair/fur from an animal in our meat, also a small filing of metal! WTF!!?!?!?
*Update 2* One of the packages of chops was damaged prior to our pickup. Instead of re-wrapping, the person who found it just slapped some tape over the hole. Real professional.
I have used Blue Ridge Meats for close to ten years now and never had a problem, staff are helpfull and both owners even when busy take time out of their day to help you in your choices.
A large number of local farmers use them for their meats that are then sold at alot of local farmers markets, farm stores and a few butchers in the area, I have never heard of any issues with the meat from here. Since using Blue Ridge I have very rarely (if ever) bought meat that wasn't locally raised once I had tasted it, as it is way better that supermarket/mass produced meats.
Now they can be very busy at times (which shows you how much business they have) so a little patience is needed but it is well worth it I promise you.
