My absolutely favorite trainer I have ever had! I wish I didn't move to Scottsdale Arizona, every trainer I have had here makes me feel stupid and has little to no patience with me but Emily did, after my cancer surgery that destroyed my core muscles from having my colon/intestines removed, She encouraged me with my two point, my stamina and to have the confidence to get back the skills I lost after cancer. I am looking forward to the day I can move back to Michigan so I can have Miss Emily again for a trainer, for me and my horses :) :)
I have recently returned to riding after an absence of many years. I feel very lucky I to be so close to Blue Oxer where Emily provides expert instruction, enthusiastic encouragement and a welcoming community. The facility is well-maintained and the horses have nice temperaments. Our beautiful Leelanau County is the perfect setting for such a enjoyable place to be learning and growing.
We've been riding with Emily for over a year now. I have to write a review telling about our first show experience with her! FANTASTIC! She's attentive to ALL her students! She made sure we were in the ring ON TIME and ready to go. I've worked with several trainers over the years, and Emily beats them all HANDS DOWN! (or is that heels down?). I would recommend her training/barn to anyone looking for a well managed barn and training program. Her sweet personality is an added bonus. She's a wonderful person and wonderful with the kids AND adults! It's a breath of fresh air to work with someone of her experience and great personality. I love her barn. No stress, no drama. I gave 5 stars to this wonderful barn and trainer.
I've actually been working at Blue Oxer Farm for a few months now (so you get the inside scoop!). Emily is very nice and easy to work for, and she keeps the barn clean and takes excellent care of the horses. I work there during the time that she gives lessons, and everyone seems pretty happy. I've heard her encouraging the riders and telling them how great they are doing. Also, she teaches how to care for the horses and to take care of the equipment. If you're looking for boarding, be assured that the horses are very well cared for and the barn is clean. Special diets are fine, as she keeps the supplements and meds section of the barn very organized. If you're looking for lessons, she's definitely taking new clients of any skill level and age group and prices are reasonable.
My daughter has been riding at Blue Oxer Farm with Emily for 3 months. Emily has done a wonderful job teaching Kat the basics of taking care of the horses and equipment. Kat has improved alot in the last 3 months with her riding. Kat loves to go out to Kids Day to see all the other kids her age that have the same love for horses as she does.
We boarded one of our horse at Blue Oxer Farm last spring and Emily and Blue Oxer Staff did a wonderful job taking care of him while he was there. Thank you Emily for all the support you have given Kat.
