  The staff, Brent, was very kind and if we needed anything he was quick to get it to us. The cottages were very nice and clean and they supplied all kitchen ware.
  We never made it in the pool, but kids from other cottages were constantly in it.
  The fire pits are very nice and it was a nice way to meet other visitors.
  
  Over all amazing experience and we will be back!!!!!

  Very small compared to the advertised amount of people that could be inside one cabin. We left early due to being so uncomfortable. The fact that you could sleep 5 inside is no good when there's no place to sit and eat or just relax- there's plenty of space outside, but if it's raining out then you're s.o.l. Very limited access to the lake due to construction, which was the MAIN reason I was treating my husband to this father's day getaway. There was no forewarning of the construction so there was no way of knowing. Mold. One air conditioner unit. Not for a couple away with children there will be no "play" lol If we were going camping- it would be the perfect spot to sleep outside. Maybe a few other things, but I hope you get the picture.

  Nice little cottages not too far from Indiana Beach. Only complaint about studio cottage is very limited counter space in kitchen & bath.
  Pool is nice but small, grounds are cared for & clean.
  Boat docks & pier are a bit sketchy stairs actually boarder on being dangerous, docks are missing cleats or the cleats are loose, boards missing & screws sticking out randomly. But a free place to tie up your boat is a free place to tie up your boat.
  Gentleman at the front desk on check-in was brash, straight forward maybe, not rude but not very welcoming either.
  Overall would stay again but would probably upgrade to 1 bedroom.

  Our large family has vacationed at the Blue Door Cottages since 2009. We have always found it to be exceptionally clean, comfortable and well maintained with charming Ikea furnished cottages.
  
  In the summer of 2016, we had our first bad experience because of the manager at that time. Since then he has been replaced by a new manager, Brett. Brett made our stay very comfortable and had a very pleasant friendly attitude. He was so kind and provided fresh bakery donuts on Sunday morning.
  
  I also see on their website that they have been nominated as one of the 5 best waterfront destinations in the greater Chicago area. We are looking forward to our 10th visit there next year. And it looks like a brand new restaurant that is currently under construction across the road will be open by then - looking forward to trying that next year!

  We had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The pool was perfect for our grandson, age 5. Our cabin had 2 nice size bedrooms but we only had 2 adults so space was a none issue. The cottage was well maintained and reasonably clean. We plan on returning next year.

  Expensive and did not provide enough towels for two adults for a 3 night stay. They refused to provide additional towels or wash cloths. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect one towel and wash cloth per person, per night especially when paying high prices.

  Very beautiful place and very clean. This was to be a family fishing vacation so we rented the large 4 bedroom, Unfortunately we had a cancelation at the kennels so we where unable to take our new born puppies in..so not the whole family could go,We where unable to get into smaller cottages even though there where some avail. $1500 for 5 days. My bed was a king and there was only a small space to get into bed so I had to crawl over the bed. I was glad at this moment there where 3 other beds because my bed had 3 large lumps where people had been sleeping prior..My sister on the other hand was very uncomfortable in all the beds so she ended up on the couch the whole week. My daughter who was going to come with and couldn't because of the babies she would have had issues because of her back but then again she is the type of woman that brings her own bedding including safety cover and mattress pad to all hotels where she staysOver all it was a nice place and we would go again but new beds in some that actually fit the rooms with walking space (queen not king) would be better for those like me with bad knees,back issues and neck problems.

  We had a family reunion in the city and chose Blue Door Cottages because we could all be in our own cottages but still be close to one another. We were greeted by a rude and irritated property manager who made us feel like every question or request was a hassle. He gave us a run down of all the rules like we were high school children at a sleepover. We were told that we had to adhere to strict policy of 11pm quiet hours. As an adult on vacation I was a little upset by this rule especially because we had dealt with the Manager for several weeks working out the details of our arrival and he never mentioned a curfew. Upon arrival he was very short and non-accomodating. He said that he had to fire his staff because they weren't doing their job and hasnt been able to keep good staff for some reason. A short conversation with him and I am more convinced that his attitude is probably the reason he cannot keep good staff. We rented 7 out of the 13 cottages. Some were leaking water from the rain and smelled of mold. Another had electricity issues which he blamed on us keeping the air running constantly causing it to freeze. We knew that was a lie because we took pictures of the back of air conditioner to prove that wasn't the problem. The property would actually be nice if it were kept better and if the manager were more personable. A smile and good attitude go a long way when dealing with the public. Overall we made the best of the weekend because we were together as a family but definitely not a place I would like to re-visit while under the same management. I can safely say we will not be returning to Blue Door Cottages.

  I had a very good stay at cottage 11. It was the second time I had stayed here. The cottage was very clean and smelled good. It's nice quiet and relaxing here. The manager Scott was able to answer any questions. He also went out of his way to help me get my car started. I had a bad battery and he used his charger to get it started for me. This part of Indiana is the half way point for my sister and I, so I'm glad we found this place and will most definitely stay here again. 'Thanks again Scott

  Or family has stayed at the blue door cottages every year since 2009 and always found it to be very clean and accommodating. However this year we had several run ins with the manager. Although last year he was very pleasant to deal with – this year he was extremely irritable and caused a lot of conflict – spouting off new rules and regulations with every encounter. We've always enjoyed our stays here and we usually reserve 4 to 6 cottages – but after the conflicts with the manager this year many of us feel that it's not worth staying at the blue door cottages and are considering other options. It takes more than a clean comfortable place to make it work for a large crowd. What it really takes is a personable management team to make guests feel welcome and appreciated not a burden and have to be scolded like little children.
