  Cluttered store, limited staff. It was hard to find someone to help me. When I did find someone they were very nice. Seems to have a little bit of everything.

  Love going to Bloomington Hardware True Value's small town atmosphere but great selection of merchandise with friendly super knowledgeable staff. Stuff can be a bit more expensive than in alienating big box stores but staff will solve so many of your problems + you get a free tutorial anytime you have a question that shopping there is a real deal. Can't imagine life without the support and help I get there. Been shopping there for 37 years, and get the same lovely experience each time.

  Terrible prices. Awful customer service. I needed to swap out a deadbolt. When I bought the original deadbolt, I asked the cashier if I could bring it right back if it didn't fit. She told me that's fine, but to try to keep the packaging in order. So I took very good care of the package while unboxing it. I found the deadbolt wasn't the right type (needed a very specific type) and brought it back less than an hour after I bought it with everything seated as it was when I bought it. The manager handling my return grinned when he realized I forgot the tiny 1 page instruction manual and said he wouldn't issue me a refund because the product needed to be in "sellable condition". I'll be on my way back to the store for a third time today and can't guarantee they won't find something else to nitpick.
  
  I support local businesses and don't want to see them die, but this kind of behavior is a quick way to get replaced by Amazon. Just this week, I returned a very expensive computer monitor to Amazon without the cables, the box, or the manual and got all of my money back before I even shipped the thing. Save your time and money and if you can't wait for something to come on Amazon, shop anywhere else in town.

  The staff here is excellent! They are extremely knowledgeable & helpful - especially for those of us who are not handy around the house. I find the prices a little higher than other places, but I think it's well worth it not to get lost, ignored, & completely frustrated in a large store. It's the only hardware store on the east side of town, & I hope it stays that way.

  Great selection of reasonably priced, high quality items in a very efficient space. Knowledgeable, friendly staff go out of their way to help every time we're there. This is everything a hometown hardware store should be.

  I don't know about the negative reviews others wrote about this place, but the time I spent there was outstanding! ! The staff was very customer service friendly and helpful. I told them what I was looking for and they knew exactly where it was. They helped me until I had what I wanted, paid for it and out the door. Highly recommend this place for novice do it yourselfer's!
