A great place to visit all year around, lot of things to do. The ride up to Perkins tower is beautiful, so many trails to choose from, you can also go down to the Hudson dock, visit the zoo, boating in the lake, ice skating rink (winters only), swimming pool etc. There are bathrooms around the grounds and near the parking lot. An awesome place to grill and sit around the lake.
Great place to get away from the city and take in your surroundings. Highly recommend the hikes here! You’ll be rewarded with beautiful views and a sense of accomplishment. If you come prepared, you’ll love it.
There are some serious hikes here, so bring a map or use google maps (or alltrails) to plan your route.
This is a great park to visit. Their is so much to do here. You can just hang out at the lodge and grab something to eat. They have lot of trails that you can walk. Their are some great lookout points. Theirs also a zoo the one thing I didn't like was the spaces for the animals. Though the bears have a big enclosure I felt that most of the other animals on display had mediocre spacing. In the summer time they have a pool it's fairly cheap often not too over packed. You can do plenty of walking and enjoy some great photo ops here as well.
Fun Fact : It is agreed that this is the point where former Assistant Secretary of the Navy and 1920 Democratic Vice Presidential nominee, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, contracted Polio during a Boy Scout Jamboree late July 1921. A quick stop he made while on his way to the family's vacation home in Campobello Island, New Brunswick.
Question to all who hike here: Would the world have been the same had FDR not ever contracted Polio?
Love this place. Have been going since I was a kid and it's always great to go back, brings many memories. Grounds and trails are well kept. Lots of people visit yet it does not feel over crowded. Serves well as a day getaway from the city. All seasons it looks phenomenal.
Great place, awesome views and very welcoming. Parking the car cost about $10~. You can go for breathtaking of hills. Be aware there aren’t much places near by to grab food in my experience.
Very beautiful park in the area, there is a lake and a few trails. It also has a free small zoo with all of new York state local animals. It is very good for a family to spend a day here in the park. You can also walk down to Hudson river bank. It is especially beautiful when leave color changes in fall.
I travel solo on many of my Excursions and this was no different. I was truly at ease. I will be going back. you go at your own pace . Circle Line Cruises was a decent ride .
It was amazing. The open air and the mountain ranges was a sight to see. When you drive into the bear mountain trail. You will have to pay 10$ to park. Other then that there are many trails to get to. Just take a deep breath and bring water with you. You must keep hyrdated at all times.
This State Park is amazing for the weekend/day getaway. The mountain itself is a bit of a challenging hike for those of us who haven't done exercise in a while however the view at the top (in person) is magnificent.
Bring the grill and food to eat, enjoy the local scenery or try out the In with gift shop and restaurant. Definitely worth another trip with my friends.
I like this place. Great place for hiking! Start at the inn and hike directly up the mountain for an intense hike or hang by the lake and relax. There is a zoo. A great place to have a BBQ. It is nice walking around the lake. The winter is great because you'll be able to ice skate.
Was there early April - so didn't get to see the trees green yet!
But a nice place to go for a trek or a picnic at the lake..
several trekking trails - mostly challenging or extreme.. however they should have a guide office for visitors. The trail maps were black and white and not very detailed
You feel like you are somewhere else, expensive. The views and amenities are almost perfect. Great place to impress visitors and friends. Safe and joyful for the whole family. Carousel is only one roller and parents ride free.
Great place for hiking! Start at the inn and hike directly up the mountain for an intense hike or hang by the lake and relax. There is a zoo which is a hidden gem!! 👌 The watchtower will give you breathtaking views of NYC on a clear day, yes NYC! The Appalachian Trail runs right through as well so it's a good place to talk to some through hikers. PS the winter is great because you'll be able to ice skate.
PS. Go early or go later. Middle of the day can be uncomfortably jam-packed.
Best wedding we have ever been to. You can tell that every staff member loves working there and will do anything to accommodate the guests. We were able to check in very late and still get a room with the rest of the wedding guests. The front desk worker was patient and explained the directions to the lodge very well. The catering staff was friendly and went above and beyond. The views of the mountains and the drive up are spectacular. We will definitely visit again.
