It's a good bar and restaurant and is right across the street from Radford University. Popular with the college kids and regulars as well. It's about the only bar I know of in the New River Valley that has a lot of character. Been there a long time and is well established. Menu for the young and the old as well. All the bartenders are very accommodating but also know your limit if the individual does not.
Above average food, very friendly staff, eclectic decor. Prices are quite reasonable. Sadly the chili is only a small notch above mediocre.
The barbecue is the best anywhere. And the brewed fries are even better. A must try.
When I got to BT's, I didn't know what to make of it. It's your typical college bar/grill style restaurant with about as many flat screen TVs as they have lights — and every screen was playing "the game" on mute. I got a table and noted that it seemed rather busy. In fact, I was mentally picking stars off my review when it took nearly 10 minutes for me to get to order a drink (and another good while for it to arrive). Being busy is fine, but getting a drink to start me off should be fairly straightforward.
But once the drink arrived, my experience did a 180. My waiter was friendly/attentive, my food arrived almost immediately after I ordered it, and nothing on the order was incorrect despite the place being packed to the gills. My food was delicious, cooked exactly as I had ordered it, and the proportions were generous for the price. The specials are varied, and the soup of the day was absolutely fantastic.
But what really won me over was watching as the table of 8 got up and left the table a mess. The waiter came over to clean up, and picked up the tabs. He waved down a coworker, and I heard the second waiter say "Looks like they stiffed you. Sorry man." The waiter replied with "They didn't even finish their food." If you get stiffed on an 8 person tab, and the first thing you think about is whether or not the group ate enough You're a good freaking person. I was so impressed that I wasn't paying full attention after I paid and accidentally forgot my card. My waiter chased me around the corner to return it rather than let me realize my error in due time. 2 for 2 on staffing, BT's.
In summation: BT's has an average atmosphere, with a pretty rough dinnertime rush. But if you stick it out, the food is great and the staff is somehow even better. They really earned back that 5th star, and I'll be excited to try them again.
Good food and friendly staff. Very much a college bar.
Located in the college town of Radford, it was a nice place to get a decent lunch. Since it was lunch time on a holiday weekend, the place was almost empty. Therefore I can not speak to what you should expect short of decent food and parking in the rear of the place. Also not far from I-95 so it was a nice break from the mostly fast food along the highway.
Service was efficient and the food came quickly. The wait staff had to make multiple substitutions on one of the orders and she did so with a very responsive "no problem." Ample serving. I had the cheeseburger and it was prepared exactly as I had requested.
BT's is a bar and grill with personable staff, a beautiful atmosphere, and truly lives up to its motto: Food, Friends, and Fun. A must-go place when on Radford. Love this place!
best place for Sunday brunch hands down.
Had the Cheeseburger and waffle-like fries . .. the Best!!!
The people there are great.
Highly recommended!!!
Nice place to grab a beer or a cocktail with some live band. Expect to pay a cover of there is a band.
This place has gotten a lot better over the years. Their soup s of the day are usually very good and they have a good selection of food items ranging from sandwiches to steak.
I'm a former employee and this was a great place to work at. Customers were usually awesome, staff was great to work with, food is great, and the kitchen was clean!
