It's a quant place even though it is large with lots of rooms. The people are warm and friendly.
Very quaint place with A LOT of character and history. Owners Ken and Anita were very kind and friendly, made sure we had everything we needed and even placed a portable crib in our room for our 4 month old. Breakfast was amazing as well, included pancakes, veggie and meat filled omelette, fruit, and fresh coffee. Definitely recommend this bed and breakfast! (Be sure to ask about the history of the place!)
We had a healthy, delicious breakfast with Anita, the owner. She explained her journey to becoming a. B&B proprietress, and how she loves baking. It was fun hearing about the quotes she is getting to make changes to the place. Can't wait to stop in again to see the changesand have more of her banana bread!
Blaney lodge is under new ownership. The new owners, Anita and Ken, are very kind. Anita makes great breakfasts from scratch I had an omelette with broccoli and spinach, homemade banana bread, and fresh fruit. My wife had a waffle with fresh strawberries. They take pride in running the Blaney Lodge Anita said it's been her dream to run a bed and breakfast and it shows. It's an old building and needs work, but don't let that deter you!
Good and nice people . Place looks old but feels comfort.
I was walking across America and some people recommended this bed and breakfast place. It is old, there are stairs to ascend, narrow hallways and beautifully decorated rooms, with all the quaint and charming touches you'd imagine.
The people who recommended it called and the lady said she'd let me stay for $20 (Not the normal rate, it's cause of what I was doing) When I arrived the lady said, "I changed my mind about the $20 room.." (of course I swallowed hard, as I was very tight on cash) "I'm not going charge you at all!"
It's a lovely place and I lingered long in the morning, talking to the friendly hosts and guests as I ate a fine breakfast and fruit, before I set off afoot again.
Recommended!! I prefer a mom and pop or privately owned place over a Holiday Inn any day!
My wife and I stayed at the Blaney Lodge Bed & Breakfast in Aug. 2012. We had a wonderful time, and we felt very welcome. Everything was clean, and the price was unbeatable. We look forward to going back there next time we visit the Upper Peninsula!
TERRIBLE website. Full of pop-ups and pictures that are truncated. Pathetic!!! I didn't spend any time trying to figure it out and went on to look at the next one on google instead.
