They cancelled my appointment! Said it was made in error. I made it a month ago now saying no one available. Offered me in 2 weeks. What a joke and no way to run a business. No regard for customer care.

The school is ran by actual morons. What a joke this place is. Aveda is supposed to be a highly reputable school, at least that's what I thought. Maybe they should hire some skilled teachers that can do the job correctly and actually teach. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY COMING TO THIS SCHOOL AS EITHER A CLIENT OR STUDENT.

I had a decent experience at this salon! I’m from Canada and currently live in Florida for school. I didn’t read any reviews prior to my service. I knew it was cheap and I wanted to lighten my hair a bit. When I arrived at the salon, I was greated, but it was quite busy! I was asked to fill out a form and just wait. I didn’t wait too long, I might have been taken in about 15 minutes past my appointent time, but I wasn’t too worried. I sat down and I disucessed what I wanted with the student stylist. Before anything was done, my hair was ombre with my natural hair at the top. I told her that I was hoping for it to be lighter overall. She told me that the best way to do it was to do balyage. So I said ok, but was worried about the price.
Overall, I was there for a total of probably 5 hours. The styles, named Payton, had incredible attention to detail and she knew what she was doing! Everyone passing her was complimenting her. She used cotton to separate the strand of hair, which she later decided she didn’t like because it was impossible to get out, but I didn’t mind. When my hair was finished and washed out, it took her and another stylist what felt like 30 minutes to brush it. I wish she put a condition or detangler in it, and i never understood why she didn’t, but i’m not the stylist! The toner she used didn’t completely elimiate the yellow/orange undertones, which had disappointed me. However, this was the products fault, not the stylist. She blew dried my hair and then twisted it into curles and pinned them. When she took all the pins out my hair was huge cinderella hair! It was very nice!
She did everything she was supposed to, definitely a true stylist! She told me she was graduating in about 5 weeks (I believe) and she would definitely be a great addition to any salon! Also, they told me the price would be $120 (which I thought was incredible considering I spent $600 at a salon at home), and when I got to the counter they gave me $20 off because it was my first time! I was very happy.
The reason I’m giving 4 stars and not 5 is because I didn’t like the toner they use. It didn’t give my hair that ashy look I was hoping for, I honestly felt like it did nothing. The toners they use at home literally change the colour of your hair and this one just didn’t. Also, I was wearing a black shirt that I had bought the day before. I asked her to make sure my hair wasn’t touching my shirt, and she assured me it wasn’t. But I think I made her nervous, so she wet a towel and was wiping off the bleach on the gown. Unfortunetly, it ended up going through the gown and left my shirt with bleach spots all down the back. Not terrible, but still present.
I emailed the salon and someone got back to me immediately and offered me the $18 difference on my next service at the salon (the cost of the shirt). I was fine with that considering my service only cost me $100 bucks. I do think I was very lucky with the stlyist I got! The girl getting her hair done across from me didn’t look as lucky!
Overall, I had a really good experience!

I booked 90 minute massages for 5 months every 2 weeks only to get an email that my appointments have been cancelled due to lack of classes. I have enjoyed these for the last 7 years and was very disappointed to hear of this. hopefully they will start up soon. Rich H.

Went in for a haircut yesterday, asked for an asymetrical bob.Student cut my hair and I left. When I went home I washed it,because I did not like the straightness of it. Put it up in with a clip because it was too thick on the sides. The next day I called and came in for someone to texture it. Got a master student, who couldn't even cut my bangs straight. They were completely crooked. Then the instructor tried to correct them, didn't work because they were so uneven. The sides of my hair were still bushy, when I asked him to thin them out he said you just have thick hair. I left totally upset with a haircut that looked ridiculous. Like the boy on Dutch boy paints. Also crooked bangs that I had been cutting myself and doing a much bether job! I will never go there again.Great place for a haircut if you have no hair!

Great place to cut hair, 12 for student cuts, 18 for master student cuts. The students trim it, but the teacher does the styling. Only shortcoming is that it takes 2-2.5hr, not including a 15 minute wait.

I made an appointment for a facial and looked forward to it. When I arrived, as I was being walked back to the spa, the lady escorting the student and me turned to me and said, "you are the first customer for this student, so it will be a memorable one." She was right. It was memorably awful. This is not a criticism of the student, but rather, of Aveda Institute and/or the instructor. The student was afraid to touch the me, she left the room repeatedly without saying a word, brought back a man while my eyes were closed and I was shocked when a man's voice spoke. She rubbed one hand, but not the other. When my service was over, she then asked me if I was allergic to anything! A little late for that question. Also, the teacher should ask the customer how the experience was, what was good, what can be improved, etc. Without this critical feedback, how does the student learn? This experience was shockingly awful. I have had many services by students, and routinely enjoy them. No customer should ever be charged for a student's "first customer". Aveda should have paid me for my time. Even though I have been here several times, I will not return because of this experience. Aveda should never put a student out with a customer who was as ill equipped as this student was. Either Aveda does not provide sufficient training, or this instructor was incompetent. Don't know which, but the experience I had was inexcusable.

Terrible. Terrible for men. Eighteen dollar for a terrible haircut with a Master. Took 90 minutes! Supervisors came to fix it, they couldn't.
    Nice staff, no waiting time.

Not good! I have been going to the school for three years and many times have waited over an hour for a student to perform the service. Last week I was in a traffic jam on my way to my 1:00 appointment, I called the scheduling center at 1:05 advising the situation, and I would be late. I was explicitly told if I could be there in 15 minutes, which would have been arrival at 1:20; they would hold my appointment. I arrived at 1:15 PM. A "new girl" at the front desk was diddling around, I waited, when she finally got around to pulling this up on the computer; my appointment was cancelled, she blamed it on the scheduling center. It was her fault; she was rude and made no effort to help. I find this unacceptable after many times delayed because Aveda had a problem being on time. I will not return and will tell all my friends of my experience. Where did all the nice people go that used to work there?

I am big on reviews so I thought I would leave a detailed one for people looking to check this place out. I have been coming here for I think 4 years now. I have had good experiences and not so good ones but anytime I may have encountered an issue like a hair mistake, it has ALWAYS been taken care of. You are going here because it has great prices with amazing Aveda products but remember they are students and things can happen. Not very often, but they can so some of these reviews I feel are a little unreasonable. They will redo anything you are unhappy with. Bring pictures and really tell the student what you want so there is no miscommunication. The only problem that has ever been a real issue for me is if my scheduled stylist called in sick then my appointment was cancelled. I find going during the week they have more people available if someone calls out since it is not as busy as the weekends tend to be. I love the atmosphere and vibe here. The products are great, all natural and animal testing free. I try new students all the time and have never found one I didn't like.

My appointment was canceled, so I called the booking number and they fit me in! Sadly, when I got to Aveda, they had no record of my new appointment. But, all was good! They fit me in, and I had a wonderful haircut with a newer student who was excellent! Thanks for making my day a great one!
