I purchased two tickets online for “The Last Jedi” that started at 130pm on a Saturday afternoon. My wife and I arrived at 1210pm and were told we could go ahead and get our seats in room 1. At 115pm, previews started to play and then the movie “Ferdinand” came on - I went to the front and asked what was going on, and the employee laughed and said they moved Star Wars to room 2. We rushed to the proper room and it was packed - but fortunately we were able to find a seat for the two of us. Poor customer service and poor management. We won’t be going back.

We came for Genesis on Thursday, Nov 16th 2017. There was 6 of us. I had never been to your theater. I live in Jackson area and am originally from Circleville area. But my friends and I LOVED the theater. The seats are comfy and the concession is very reasonably priced and theater was clean. We will be back, I'm sure. And my husband, and I, will be for future date nights too!
ALSO.A friend had to back out and they refunded my ticket price to me. I REALLY appreciate that. That's good customer service.

Theaters can be rather hard to review especially in college town Athens Ohio, but this review will be as unbiased and rated off of several visits throughout multiple years.
So without further-ado here it is.

This theater opened up only some years ago, it isn't that old. But isn't new either.

This theater is usually ran by a staff of whom seems to be college students. Which is great because they need the money for college and who better to work in a theater!

The customer services from this staff has always been decent, if not decent, then pretty good.

The popcorn always nice and hot, the butter is decent for movie theater quality, and the snack selection is not bad!. The nachos are generic and the sauce is dispensed from a nacho sauce warming machine. Which oddly enough they are very delicious.

The seating in the theaters are decently comfortable with flip-up arm wrests, and ample spacing and leg room in most theaters.

The picture quality is usually quite good, and 3D in this theater while rare, is pretty amazing quality.

All in all, it's a pretty good theater for both locals and travelers looking to catch a quick-flick.

The prices are amazing!!! Where I come from, tickets cost more, and food way more, but the Athena Grand has reasonable prices for both. The staff are friendly, the theaters don't freezing cold, and the only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because the theaters are not the cleanest I've been in but for us that is not a big priority when it comes to picking out movie theaters.
The seats also recline which makes up for their fabric being a bit older.

Excellent seating,screen viewing and sound. Cleanliness needs work. Inexpensive way to see a movie. Should have a good experience as long as you don't have to deal with the manager or owner. Passing through from the east coast. Very glad this is once in a lifetime visit to this facility.

I love this theater! It is well priced and it is a fun environment to take your kids to watch a movie. There is a large selection of food, the carnival like, but it is worth the entire experience! You can go early, eat a fun dinner, grab your tickets and your snacks all in the same location and watch your movie and super comfy theater seats. The decor is a little outdated, but I genuinely think that's part of the fun of going here. We live 45 minutes away from this theater and prefer this over our local, way more expensive, theaters here.

We did the math, for three of us we carpool from Parkersburg. The tickets are cheap enough to cover gas and the theater is well beyond whats in Parkersburg. Clean, not crowded, cheap tickets, comfortable seats and the concessions are even cheaper (but still high, hey its a movie theater).

There is a man with a great Beard that works here. Sometimes I can't focus on my movie because all I can think about is his beard. Quality facility and will be coming back just to see the beard. You should promote that man.. Made this comment a while ago, I am a little discouraged because the last few times I have been I have yet to see him.. may drop star rating if his hours are not boosted.. One of the only reasons I am a repeat customer..

I recently went back to Athena, and saw the bearded man again. His genuine smile and warming handshake reassured everything I had previously written. If I had words to describe the amount of enjoyment he brings to my visits with Athena Grand I would describe them. Seriously consider this man for bigger roles.

Good place to come to see the latest movies, a hidden gem compared to the other movie theaters in the surrounding areas. If you don't enjoy being crowded and surrounded by people at the movie theater then this is the ideal place to visit. Comfortable theater areas and pretty clean restrooms. Has a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Only issue is the dirty floors sprinkled with various food items and such. Besides that it's a great place!
