Part of the old Loews Theater chain, opulence here enough to make a New Yorker envious! Stunning in detail, the Midland is on my short list of best surviving movie palaces in America. Reminiscent of the Los Angeles Theater, this masterfully restored treasure reminds us of a certain swagger this city once had, and is now playing an integral role in helping to recapture and restore that KC attitude as the new exciting downtown entertainment district emerges.

The Live Show Criss Angel RAW!: THE MINDFREAK UNPLUGGED was absolutely spectacular and featured continuous magic/illusions

Have always loved this venue until tonight. Balcony seats section 302be warned!!!
When people get up to dance, the balcony shakes. You can se it bouncing and feel it too. I had my grandma and daughter with me tonight, and had a slight panic-attack over it. My grandma and another mom behind me with her two daughters felt it as well. We all left the section as we were afraid it would collapse.

Never had any issues before. Been here mire times than I can count. Venue is beautifully detailed. Cool atmosphere.just worry about age of structure and safety.

What a beautiful venue from the Age of Prohibition. Built in 1927 the exterior of the theatre was constructed in a Renaissance Revival style in cream glazed terra cotta brick, adorned with engaged pilasters, winged figures, leaves, flowers, swags, volutes, urns, and arches. A four-story arched window rose above a copper and gold marquee that contained 3,600 light bulbs. And if the outside doesn't move you, inside the theater has over 500,000 feet of gold leaf, five giant Czechoslovakian hand-cut crystal chandeliers, irreplaceable art objects and precious antiques, and spectacular wood and plaster work. Plenty of parking across the street and in within walking distance via Power and Light District.

Venue doesn't make sure there are adequate parking options for their patrons and only has speakers that point down so that those sitting in the balcony or standing outside the lounge on the 5th floor can only hear low frequencies. They also advertise that ny paying extra for the Ink Live Lounge their drinks are up to 50% off, but that is not the case. Only gave them 2 stars instead of just 1 as they book great acts, though I will likely never come back to this venue again. Would rather drove hours away for a place that sounds good, cares about their patrons' ability to park and not miss their favorite singer, and ESPECIALLY has good sound.

Last night I saw Bishop Briggs here. This is a beautiful venue. Plenty of space, plenty of restrooms and bars scattered about. The concert was awesome, the people were friendly. Surprisingly, this was my first time seeing a show here and I can't wait to go back.

Management really let the fans down on Monday's Joe Bonamass concert. We were at the theater at 7:15, and were amazed to find lines around the theater. An hour later we were inside headed to our seats. We missed the first 3 songs or 20% of his show. There needed to be double the security personnel! The beauty of this venue was not enough to offset the frustration. We won't return soon.

Would love to give 5 stars. It is a beautiful venue. But two things really took away from an awesome night. Went to see Joe Bonamossa. Awesome show!!!!. And as usual his show started right at 8pm. The problem is the doors did not open till 7pm. That means the theater had one hour to get everyone in the hall. We got there at 7:15 and stood in one of the long two lines and still did not get into the theater till 8:15. They only had two areas where you could come through, and only two guards checking bags. I heard others mention they did not get into the show till 8:45 because of the long lines. When you spend that kind of money there is no excuse that you can not get into the show on time.

The other thing that bothered me. We had seats on the floor. They were thin folding chairs. Not very comfortable. But what was hard for me is that I am broad shouldered and the seats are so narrow, I felt cramped most of the show.

Still would give 5 stars if they did not force people to stand in the long cold lines because of the slow security check at door. I am sure this is not their first venue and they should have been prepared for the size of the crowd.

Sorry to be so negitive, but people spend their hard earned money to see an event like this. The owners need to be more respectful towards their patrons. I would think twice about going to this venue again. I hope Joe finds another place to play next time he is in town.
