Very cool "raptor show" where hunting birds fly right over your heads. Reptiles, cacti and more! Tickets are a bit pricey, but I imagine that's what it takes to feed all those critters. One nice thing is they provide sunscreen in the bathrooms and have water fountains all over for your convenience.

Love this place. Used to come here for field trips as a kid and erra number of years laterit is still great. It is a unique place kind of a combined botanical garden, zoo, and natural museum. We were there for the birds of prey flight which was amazing, they fly literally inches from you and the staff is very knowledgeable and even after doing this probably many many times are still excited and passionate about the birds and the museum. So much to see here it could take more than a day, drink lots of water! We missed the restaurants but the coffee shop was open and I was so thankful they had a vegan wrap and coffee that was good. We ate and watched the sunset that was absolutely beautiful. Great place for kids, there are people to answer questions all over. Kids will enjoy looking for minerals that they can even keep at one if the geology exhibits. A little out of the way but so worth it!

I've never been to a museum/zoo/nature preserve like this, and it was really enjoyable. The scenery on the way there was incredible, and the walking trails provided great picture opportunities.
I'd like to visit again since there was no way we could see everything in one trip.response / report this review -

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a really awesome place. They have some well done exhibits and beautiful landscapes. I went very early on a Sunday and didn’t get to see some of the animals I wanted to see because the habitats were being cleaned, but it was okay cause I got to see a lot of other things. The volunteers were kind and knowledgeable. Don’t miss the cactus garden or the hummingbird aviary! Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely am going back.

Unbelievable. This place is highly underrated! It is expansive and there are constant discoveries and “Easter eggs” all over the place that keeps it new for even veteran visitors. The cave was incredible, and the displays with animals were designed to showcase the critters, not allow them to hide. The trails were wide and well maintained. Expect a lot of walking. Really beautiful views and astonishing displays. Staff is very helpful and excited to be there and share information. It is about $20 to get in, so plan to stay for a while - you would find it difficult to see everything in a day. There is a small coffee shop, but you can bring in food. I would highly recommend going.

The desert museum is one of my favorite places to visit. It is located west of Tucson with beautiful desert views. It is a wonderful combination of museum and zoo. Great place to bring kids. The stingray petting pond is a great learning experience as well as the raptor free flight show. There are many trails to walk where desert animals are housed in their natural environment. Look under the bridges for the javalinas!

Great place for kids of all ages. Pet sting rays! Great walking and hiking to Cat Canyon. Watch for Raptor Show, breath taking watching the raptors fly in and around you. Great lunches and very reasonably priced.

Every aspect of the visit was excellent. Staff was knowledgeable, helpful and courteous, parking was ample and accessibleA real treasure for the area. The cost was low and very much worth it. Truly impressive.

Love it here! I purchase a yearly membership and it's worth it for me. I especially enjoy visiting early morning when it first opens. It's peaceful and relaxing. The hummingbirds are my favourite. 👍😁

Amazing museum. There is so much to see and do here and the guides are very helpful. There's sunscreen in the restrooms and water bottle filling stations to stay hydrated. It's best to go as soon as they open during the summer months because you could easily spend 4 or 5 hours to enjoy everything. The beauty is breathtaking.

Sadly we picked a very hot day to visit and were not able to visit all the exhibits. We did see the aviary and some of the plants, which was our primary purpose for being there. Staff were nice and helpful. Sadly the trails are in the sun. There was practically no one there because of the heat, so we almost had the place to ourselves. We will return in the winter to see the other exhibits.

The Desert Museum is great for toddlers through elderly. It's a tourist attraction with plenty of water stations with COLD water, sunscreen in restrooms to reapply, shaded structures, paved and dirt paths, wheelchair accessible, and a wide array of animal life (birds, sting ray and marine life, wild cats and more) in addition to the beautiful desert life! Plan for 2-3 hours of walking around. Don't worry though, there are vending machines, snack bars, rest stations, and restaurants throughout the trail. Will definitely visit again every season to see various plants in bloom!

The Desert Museum is absolutely great. I had so MUCH fun there. There are LOTS of animals, water animals, caves and fun activities. There are water fountains, water bottle fillers, and sunscreen in the restrooms. There are many great places to get food, and it is so good. The animals' habitat is matched to their true habitat. Great gift shops, and cute little shops to get ice cream. There are little booklets that cost 1 dollar at the front with information on the animals, and around the museum, you can collect ink stamps to stamp in the booklet of the animal's footprints. Lots of information on the animals, and the cave is ABSOLUTELY amazing, looks just like a real one. 100/5 stars

Visited on Xmas day with family and everyone, most especially the little one had a great time. Long but quick lines for tickets, rangers were entertaining guests showing off snakes which was interesting. Lots to see - birds, plants, turtles, and even get to touch sting rays. Very informational and the drive out there was just spectacular itself

First place you should take any first-time Tucson visitor. Great introduction to the desert flora & fauna and if you take W Gates Pass Rd the views are SO scenic. We love this place. Have been multiple times and always enjoy. They have water fountains and sunscreen dispensers everywhere, they really take care of you and it is great for all ages. Wonderful layout of the museum fits perfectly into the desert landscape, we always see lots of animals out and about. If you are short on time just make sure to hit up the hummingbird habitat!
