The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is worth every penny of a membership. This goes for whether you come here from out of town or whether you are a local. This membership can be used at many reciprocal locations around the country. The museum itself is perfect for newborns all the way through teens. There are multiple levels to the museum with a variety of different interactive exhibits. For the youngest children there is even a closed-off miniaturized version of many of the larger older kid things. In the closed off 4 and under Section there is a water area, a engineering ball mechanism area, a kitchen area, a climbing tower, fireman pretend play, lots of puzzles and blocks and building things. There is also a special padded section for young crawlers and little Walker's. Many benches throughout the space make it easy for breastfeeding while watching older kids play. In the winter this is an awesome place to come to get out of the cold in the summer the same to get out of the Heat. Downstairs there is a room for eating and vending machines for healthy snacks and drinks. You can also make reservations for birthday parties or graduation parties or just family get-togethers in general. School groups also come to the museum quite often throughout the summer and the school year. The space is large enough though that it can really accommodate groups as well as individual visitors without feeling overwhelming. Each time I go I take my kids to a different level and we can spend hours in that one space. They never get tired of going there ever.

I drive from Birmingham (50 min) with my 3-year-old about once a month because we really enjoy the experience and he usually naps on the way home, making the drive not prohibitive. We park in the Ann-Ashley Parking garage 3 blocks away. We spend the most time in the toddler room and water areas but there are enough other exhibits to make it easy to fill up 2 hours. There's a cafeteria in the back where we sometimes bring snacks if he needs a quiet break. Everything is always clean and well maintained. Sometimes I can see his mind working overtime as he watches "how water can do that" :-)

Super fun place for kids of all ages!! My son was delighted with just about all the areas, especially the water play area where you assemble pipes and tubes for water flow, I couldn't make him leave till he was soaking wet. He also loved the real ambulance. Really fun and I like the amount of interactive setups they offer.

This is a magical place for kids and adults (but mostly kids). They have all interactive displays for kids to play with science. My son particularly enjoyed the pressure rockets and the water works area.

Incredible place to take kids, from upper elementary all the way down to infant. This is the kind of resource that you don't often find. Great exhibits that really do encourage enthusiastic, active participation. Kids can't possibly be too loud here. Great learning experiences, great structured 'classes.' This isn't one of the most popular field trip destinations for nothing.

My son and I love the 'preschool area,' which is a dedicated space just for kids ages 4 and under. Fairly large, considering it's just for little ones. It's an immersive space that's safe for little ones to run around and explore and has all sorts of different learning experiences. Water play; mechanical & engineering elements with a very impressive setup of balls and ramps and machines; lots of smaller, independent activities. There is also a contained infant section for babies 18 months and under.

A membership here is well worth the money!

Great for adult research and child and young adults. There even things for toddlers to do. The staff is engaged and active in the experience if you want them. Notions and knickknacks are reasonably priced and are useful learning tools. Parking is tight on the street but just a couple of blocks away is a large municipal lot with reasonable rates. Have fun!

Awesome place to take kids of all ages. Everyone can learn something here. It isn't the museum's fault, but when we were there, there were a bunch of school groups that were being totally crazy. They were running over the little kids and none of the camp counselors cared to exercise control over their groups. My daughter still very much enjoyed herself and the water room is always her favorite.

My 3 year old loves going here. He enjoys the preschooler room with the engineers on a roll exhibit. He is also a big fan of the H2 oh! exhibit. We can easily spend 3-5 hours here. The family pass is very affordable and we have gotten more than our money's worth.

Wonderful fun for kids. Has an area exclusively for Pre-K which lets them have a blast even if the other areas are packed with older children. Parking garage 1.5 blocks away is $1.20 per hour. Entry is $12 per, with under 2 free.

I went here with my children and friends this past weekend. What an amazing place!!! There is so much to do, and definitely this is a hands on museum. I think I had more fun than my kids did!! We didn't even get a chance to go through it completely. We can't wait to go back!

In Ann Arbor with a few hours to kill? Got kids with you? GO! This place is fun for adults and children. It almost doesn't matter which age range the kids are in, they will find something that is either fun or informative (and still fun!!). Pro-tip: there is an area for under 2 yo, it's hidden away upstairs. You don't NEED to go there, they will still get a lot of fun from the rest of the museum but it might be a good spot if you need a rest from chasing the little ones.

Very cool place for children. Only stopped to pick up a present for my nephew. They have a cute little store for innovative thinking parents. Great stuff for kids to learn and become interested. Got this really cool roll up piano there. It has recording technology and different play along beats. Very durable.
