Fun place to walk through and get a flavor of South Florida historyway more colorful and interesting than I ever imagined! Ask the workers there and you'll learn tons. Very well worth the visit.

Great piece of South Florida history. If your'e ever in Chokoloskee it would actually be kind of silly not to go to Smallwood! It's literally stocked with historical artifacts and is the scene of a notorious killing -- the murder of the outlaw Edgar J. Watson.

A time capsule of merchandise and manners. Ike Godsey from Waltons Mountain would approve!

In short, it's well worth the stop in, for the family members keep it so interesting.

Even at 5 bucks seems overpriced. Our visit wasn't helped by the girl at admissions who talked loudly on the phone the whole time during our visit.

Very cool preservation of old Florida, cracker-style. Life in the islands area of southwest Florida was always tough and the Smallwood Store was area place of community and provision. It is now a museum of that way of life, not gone but going. Not to be missed.

Smallwood Store is labelled as a museum. It is not an operating store. Insofar as its qualification as a museum, it is not currated by a knowledgeable historian and offers little to no educational value. It is more a curio shop with a collection of odds and ends that represents a bygone era of everglade life. Whether it is worth the drive from the main road is questionable. If you are going to the Everglade Park for other adventures it might be worth a visit.

“Cool little place”
I read about this so I felt I had to go out of my way a bit to see it. Was it worth it? I don't know. $5 entry fee, walk around and see all this old time, musty stuff. I grew up in the 60's in a lakes region so it was kind of a cool nostalgic place to see.
