It was very nice and elegant when I first came in I love the food and it didn't take too long for it to come to you. Overall it was very nice.

The garden is so peaceful. The walking path is great. The fish are friendly. The waterfalls are pretty. It's just a really peaceful place to go especially during the day mid week when most people are at work. I can't wait till they are open next summer. They give children a little map quest and when we are done with our walk the kids can turn their map quest in and get a free prize.

Restaurant great food, atmosphere and service. Willing to help with that little extra that takes them from good service to exceptional. Gardens lovely, and docents helpful and informative. My body ran out of gas mid-garden, docent arranged golf cart to pick us up and take to car. Attitude was kind, concerned and compassionate. Am very

Sharing the number #1 - #2 best Japanese garden in the US with Portland Japanese garden, depending on the year. Designed by the same guy. A great place to do research on future garden projects. I wish the garden shop sold more practical things related to Japanese Gardens instead of the kind of gifts you could buy anywhere. People are coming to see a Japanese garden. It would be better if they sold items FOR Japanese gardening that are hard to come by elsewhere. Basins, fountains, lanterns, Japanese garden flags, Japanese gardening tools. For souvenirs for kids they could sell Japanese related toys or books. They are wasting valuable space and a valuable opportunity.

Very nice, but smallish place. Nice afternoon. Very peaceful. On Tuesdays in the summer they have evening concerts which are great. They offer nice food choices, beer, wine and usually 2 acts. I highly recommend going to the Tuesday concerts.

Garden itself is pretty cool and definitely something to check out at least once! The staff didn't seem the most enthusiastic in the gift shop/visitor center but the ladies we met on the path were nice enough. Unfortunately some people don't treat the gardens like they should and find it acceptable to take off their shoes and put their legs in the water.real cool guys.

This was one is the best hidden gems I've ever been in Rockford, IL. This botanical garden is a must visit. Absolutely gorgeous trails, multiple waterfalls, a river walk, and plenty of beautiful statues and monuments. The koi fish are amazing so purchase the food to feed them. Plenty of sitting areas to just relax and talk. A must visit for anyone in the area. It won't disappoint.

Beautiful garden to visit with family. Even in summer you won't get that much heat because of the big plantations. The garden is designed so you can walk with a stroller if you have infant. You will find two Waterfall in the garden. They also provide a brochure with a map you can use while exploring the garden. Also consider the events schedule on the website which happens frequently. The restaurant is also a good treat.

This place is an absolute delight and if we road-trip to Chicago again we will absolutely stop here. We visited in the fall and that was stunning, I'm sure it is great any time of year. We visited on a weekday so there were minimal visitors- making it the perfect time to meander and take our place as we strolled through the grounds. Highly recommend visiting here if you are in the area.

This is one of the best kept secrets of the midwest. This garden is on par with any Japanese garden anywhere in the world. It is incredibly peaceful. I drive three hours at least once a year to visit.

We went to the Snowfall tea and sweet making class. This allowed us to see the garden in the winter when it is normally closed. We also learned to make various Japanese sweets, which were very tasty! I highly recommend going to these classes!

Beautiful place. Nice paths. Restaurant however has the slowest service ever. That's the only reason I dropped a star. Otherwise a great place to spend the day.

Lovely little get-away. The gardens were beautiful! The walk around the park does not take long, but it is worth the visit. Most recommend going during summer/fall.
