It has its good and its bad parts. Hallways have a strange smell on 5th floor at least. You can hear your neighbors speaking and snoring. Service is a bit disorganized in the restaurant for breakfast. Linen, room design and bathrooms are nice, minus the smell. Relaxing to sit on the chairs and watch the ocean.

Absolutely enjoyed staying at Amara Cay. The facilities are exceptionally clean, spacious, and the staff went out of their way to be of assistance. The pool was the high-lite for my girls, spending every available moment they had there. If you are looking for some quiet, relaxing time this is the place for you. In close proximity to fishing, diving, and plenty of restaurants. If you prefer chaos, confusion, and massive shopping outlets, better stay in Miami.

Expensive for what you get. Only three bath towels in a room booked for 4 adults. Bathroom exhaust fan doesn't work. Very small bathroom, and seal on shower door didn't keep water from going on bathroom floor. Pool was suppose to be open, but everything was locked up. Had to ask someone at the front desk to find someone to open it. Some good things too. Pool was a little dirty, but had nice colored lights and was lit beautifully at night. On a rating of 1 to 5, I give it a 3.

Nice hotel! I wouldn't call it a resort "yet", but if you are looking for a quiet stay and want to enjoy the true beauty of the keys. This is a great place. Everything is new and renovated along with a temperature controlled pool. Rooms were were tastefully decorated, and we're very spacious. We made full use of the dive and snorkel shop on the property. Had a fabulous time! Pool side service would have been a plus, and they don't appear to serve dinner yet, but it's all so new and I am sure that is coming. Definitely a return location. Very friendly staff, thank you!

Absolutely amazed with the service and cleanliness this resort delivers. The customer service is above what Chic-Fa-La can deliver. The comfort and feel of the resort makes you feel like you really do have your own slice of the keys to yourself. Both bars offer amazing drinks while treating you like you're their best friend. The restaurant they have has better than your average resort food. I've highly enjoyed my stay here and will be back.

Great place. My family of 5 consisting of three kids under the age of 12 stayed in two connected rooms. Rooms were great, Service was friendly, housekeeping was great. Overall a nice little resort. Pool area is new and the kids had fun. Breakfast staff had great attitudes.

This was our first time in the florida keys and we had a great time.

This hotel is under staffed and not managed well. We had a short stay of three nites. Almost every day there was a incident that made our stay sub par. This is more of a hotel with a great view. Calling it a resort is a real stretch.

The day we checked in we had to wait in the lobby from 1230 to 4 because they did not have the room ready. We had called in a day before and requested early check-in. They had no record of it. We were reminded several times that check-in is at 4. They had no update for us. Finally at 4 when I asked for a update we were told the room is still being cleaned and eventually we got our room. There were other folks waiting for their room. We never felt that the staff went out of their way to keep the folks waiting comfortable. We were asked to hangout at the bar and wait for a call.

The next day around 2 they ran out of towels at the pool. Turns out they were in the laundry being cleaned and later around 5 they had them out. By then we were headed back in.

On Day 3 we had requested our room to be cleaned twice. In fact the second time we went to the front desk to let the know we need our room cleaned. When we came back to our room at 6 they had yet to clean them. We were then told that house keeping had left for the day. We requested towels etc instead.

At no point did we get a call from the manager to inquire on our stay or the issues we had. This hotel needs more staff and a manager.

Our room was really good and the views from the room were fantastic. We had a suite. It was very comfortable. The other good experience was at the bar near the pool. The bartenders at the bar are good.

But in general for a hotel that charges a daily fee of $28 as resort fee the resort hospitality is missing.

It might be better now, but while we were there the whole place was under construction and super loud from the tractors and machinery. Wish they hold told us about that when we made the reservation.

Great views from the room, though, if you ignored the machinery and construction crews. So I bet this might be a nice spot when they are done.

Also, the service was odd. The front desk and housekeeping staff didn't seem to care about us much and seemed annoyed by our presence. The one shining star was the bartender-- Eddie, I think. He took really good care of us and went above and beyond to make our experience a good one. We ordered desert to take back to the room, and my mom joked with him about whether she would share with the rest of us. She ended up asking for "two and a half" spoons. When we got back to the room, we found that he had opened up one of the plastic-wear wrap-ups and snapped one of the plastic spoons in half. That to me is an example of killer service-- he took that extra moment to do something totally not required of him just to make us laugh and have a good time. He also made some tasty cocktails.
