The residents that stay around the park were very friendly and every one seemed to know each other. The little store staff was also very friendly. However, the fishing close to shore didn't seem so good, the swim hole was just okay.

This is very cool place. Lots of camping area. Big pavilion, right next to the playground where we had a family reunion. The walking trail in the woods is very pretty and easily walkable with little kids. My only semi complaint would be that I wish the swimming area were bigger.

First and foremost, BEWARE! The road into the campground (Altahama Park Road) from Rt. 341 has a severely humped Railroad crossing soon after you turn onto it. Our toyhauler RV has low ground clearance and we scraped going over it. Higher clearance rigs may not have a problem. If you are low ground clearance like us, I suggest you enter on Burnt Island Road to Old Jesup Road to the park road, which is about a mile Southeast of Altahama Park Road if you are coming from I-95 or Brunswick. Now onto the campground itself. First of all, let me say I grew up camping along a river campground (basically a fish camp) so a lot of what goes on here especially on the weekends doesn’t surprise me. We stayed for a week in mid-January so I’m sure the summer weekends are even more busy than what we experienced. There are campground rules clearly posted at the entrance to it, and security cameras distributed in key areas however, there doesn’t seem to be active rule enforcement of any kind. There is no ranger we ever saw, which is the key element missing here. There also doesn’t seem to be a camp host or a maintenance person although I did see someone riding around on a golf cart with shovels and buckets. If it was the maintenance person he didn’t really maintain anything in the campground that I saw. All the sites have bits of trash that have obviously been lying there for a long time, and there isn’t any cleaning of sites from one camper to the next. People come and go from the store, docks, bathhouse and dumpsters all hours of the day and night (they aren’t fishermen). It’s quite obvious that people neither fishing or camping here come and use the bathhouse, the laundry and leave their trash in the dumpsters. We never felt we were in danger, the people we met were all friendly and courteous but again, the lack of any sort of active security or maintenance makes it uncomfortable to be here. The staff obviously tolerates outsiders using the laundry and the bathhouse and people letting their dogs run loose despite the posted rules for them to be leashed at all times, and it is an annoyance. The laundry has old, mostly worn out and unreliable appliances in it, and the staff was aware but didn’t seem concerned when I reported a malfunctioning washer. For two nights we had a family with 5 children set up a tent practically under our slides in the next site (the riverfront sites are close together) when there is clearly a designated tent camping area close by. I would stay here again despite all this but the feint of heart would probably want to choose another campground. The positive aspects of this campground are obviously the river and the reasonable rates for full hookups, as well as a lot of friendly people. If the security, rules and maintenance issues were addressed it would really be a great place for a long term stay. A full time ranger and a entrance gate that closes at night would be a great place to start to improve the park.

No security or rule adherence enforced. Maintenance and cleanliness are not done. Sites had trash and many cigarette butts. Quiet hours not observed on weekends. Didn't feel entirely comfortable leaving rig for the day. Difficult to take dogs out as many people crammed into each camp site with loose dogs during the weekend. Nowhere to go with them. 15 miles from any stores or restaurants. Large mostly level sites but are close together. No privacy. Wifi bad. Lots of outsiders coming and going all hours of day and nite using laundry room, bathhouse and dumpsters. Staff very friendly but lackadaisical. Water and air have a slight odor. Basically a free-for-all fish camp.

this was mine and my daughters first time camping we went with family and enjoyed the camp ground. everyone was friendly visitors and employees. we camped in tents, our site was nice and we have enough room for 2 tents and a screen tent along with our chairs around the fire (no fire rings). playground was nice, our daughter loved it. everything was in walking distance the store, ramps to fish, playground and bath house (nice for the most part). they do have security cameras up around the campgrounds which i think is a plus but maybe needs a little bit of security. the road that gets you to the grounds ends up right at the camping area so cars was going a little too fast for us entering into the campground and not to mention non-stop all hours of the day and night. the bath house was nice for the most part as there was several ones all with toilet,sink and shower (doors you could lock). only issue we noticed was it was suppose to be for the campers only which they have a public bathroom for visitors on opposite side near playground. well everyone was using the bathhouse and some left them to wear you wouldn't want to even go near or even use, told workers in the store and all they did was send someone over to lock the door to the nasty bathrooms. we noticed a car pulled in and parked by bathhouse assuming this couple with kids was homeless as they came in one night and use the bath house maybe about an hour/ hour-half and left then right back again the following morning ( they wasn't staying on the grounds as we seen them pull in and after they was finished with bathhouse (remember the road was right next to us so we seen when they came in and left). maybe need a little more monitoring the cameras or assign a bathroom to each register guest (group) with a key to stop this from happening. you pass the camping area before you get to the check in/store so they really can't see this happening unless they are watching the cameras. (i have no problem with the cameras as we didn't do anything wrong just gives you a little peace of mind knowing that everything is being recorded :). kinda like a secret security

It's very family oriented. Everyone is super nice an polite, They know how to make you feel welcome. Very nice swimming area with a floating dock with two loading docks for boats an a nice paivillian with ceiling fans. It has a very nice playground, fenced in for little one, an really clean restrooms. The camping sites are very nice with picnic tables, grills, an a electrical hook up at every site, plus a very nice bath house for campers. Really just a great place for having a blast.
