Great food and wine selection. Ambiance is great too. Bonus points for taking reservations now too as the line could get pretty long. Definitely recommend the pork belly and beets. If you go more than twice though, don't expect much variety as the menu was the same the third time as it was the first time.
Best birthday dinner I've had since I lived in NYC many moons ago. Honest ambiance, memorable wine, incredible food, and a truly impressive staff, especially our server, Christian. Thank you so very much! I felt the love tonight. 💯🍷❤
Very attentive and considerate service staff. The Tapas food is easy to share, but a bit on the expensive side for the provided portions. However, it's easy to tell much consideration goes into the planning and creation of the dishes, so I don't mind the cost. The interior is cozy, inviting, and relatively quite making it great for visiting with a friend to catch-up. Overall, a high quality experience that is easy to recommend.
My wife and I finally stopped in for dinner. Two starters, two small plates, a large plate and a dessert between us satisfied two pretty good appetites. Flavors were very good with the beets and ravioli being the standouts. At this price point it won't make or list of regulars but we'll definitely be back again for a treat.
Don't be afraid to try new food. it all sounds different and strange but it's so delicious.
So worth the trip! Out of state travelers who happened to be served by C. Sat outside, neighborhood ambiance was fantastic. We tried the tasters menu along with the wine pairings. Everything was delicious and so thoughtfully presented and described. Loved this place and will be back next year.
Fantastic food great location very knowledgeable wait staff. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Amazing food. Relaxing atmosphere. One of a kind. Don't miss this one.
Not at all what I expected based on the name. The food was quite different, but good. I enjoy trying new places and I'd actually recommend this place. We had the Family Style which allowed us to sample several different dishes.. they were enjoyable and the desert was great.
Wow - super delicious! I went with a large group outing and, being a vegetarian, was not expecting to leave full and happy. I was SO wrong. Everyone in my group said the meat dishes were fabulous, and the chef prepared some vegetarian dishes (not on the menu) that were awesome and unique. Will definitely visit again. You probably should too ;)
Really great small and large plate restaurant on Willy St. Mediterranean focused food with fresh ingredients, sourced locally. Great seasonal cocktails too! The place does have some 2 person tables, but it's mostly highttops that could seat about 12. Your party can be sat at the same hightop as another, but you'll have plenty of space to either keep it private, or open it up to meet new people.
After reading the reviews, I could not wait to try Pig in a Fur Coat. As someone that road trips on a monthly basis, I did tons of recon as I headed into Madison to find some of the best places this hidden gem of a foodie city had to offer. Pig was at the top of the list.
The outside of the building was quaint and I absolutely loved the location. Easy to find and street parking was an ease, but I may have just gotten lucky. Upon entering, I loved the setup. Bar in the front and great ambience to start the night off perfectly. Almost rustic wooden tables and hanging edison light bulbs provided the perfect intimate atmosphere to converse with friends. We had a group of four and the waitress gave us the run down on how the menu was set-up.
We didn't order any cocktails, but they looked divine and the drink menu even had diagrams of the layers of alcohol each cocktail had, which I loved. We started with the duck fat fries, of course, which delivered in a huge way; both in portion and taste. They came in a cone, almost fair style, but served with a 5 star aoli. These are a must-order. We also had the olive plate starter, which was a nice compliment to the fries.
Now onto the bigger plates. We ordered the pork tripe, and it was not what I had expected. It was almost like a very thick stew served in a miniature cast iron bowl. For a larger plate and priced as such, the duck fat fries dwarfed the pork tripe in portion and taste. I didn't hate this dish, but for the price, I was expecting so much more. I wish it was served on some noodles or something instead of being simply this thick stew. The other pair in our party ordered the same thing, and I wish they would've ordered something else so I could really sample more of the menu, but I have to review what I ate.
The service was impeccable, however. We had a pregnant diner with us, who simply requested pasta. Our waitress went above and beyond and included vegetables with it, and she devoured it.
All in all, this was a good spot, but I wanted to love it so much more, especially for the price. Had we went there for a quick bite and just gotten the duck fat fries, it would be a 5 star place, no doubt. But if you want something bigger in portions for dinner, there are better and cheaper options. It's worth a try though. I will be back one day and sample some other big plate dishes.
Pretty awesome meal here. Granted it was an extremely unhealthy dinner but so delicious.
On Friday night we had to wait 45 minutes since we didn't make a reservation. It was interesting to eat tapas with the communal seating arrangement. Now, on to the food:
Cocktails: the wise guys fizz was AMAZING! 10/10 would drink again.
Duck fat fries: largest portion size of the night. Duck fat was deliciously buttery
Charcuterie board: loved it so much. Great variation of flavors and textures too
Ravioli: swimming in butter so that was the primary flavor
Chicken liver mousse: doughnut holes and savory mousse with fig jam; interesting combination, so you have to eat all the components together
Pork belly: decent and fatty, but not sure I would get it again
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Madison. Make sure to try the duck fat fries. So delicious. **Be warned, this place is small and fills up fast. If you don't make a reservation you may have to wait quite awhile to get seated - but the food is totally worth it.**
