Wonderful spot. Half of the sites (for those lucky enough to get them) can see the lake. Quiet and remote, the sites have nice room between them so don't expect to hear your neighbors. But nce warned, it's not easy to get a spot here. Don't count on anything on a weekend in good weather.

Such a great campground, not easy to get a site though. Only about 8 of the sites are on the beach, so it's especially hard to get one of those sites. Be prepared to stay at a nearby campground until a space opens up at the 12 mile campground. The campsites on the beach have pathways down to the sand where you can sit or walk and enjoy miles of Lake Superior. It can get very chilly at these sites so make sure to bring warm clothing and gear! I stayed here in August and it got down in the 50s at night.

If you can get a lakeside spot, or just a spot in general, this campground will not disappoint you. The campground is normally quiet, and the sites are spaced out generously. A lakeside campsite offers a little (steep) sand path down the cliff to the beach.
The sunsets here are incredible. You can look down the Twelvemile Beach and just look at the colors of the evening sky.
Out of the three campgrounds of Pictured Rocks, this is my favorite.response / report this review -

This is a popular campground that sucks to walk through if you're hiking the North Country Trail. It's almost 3/4 of a mile long!

This camp ground was perfect!! It was quiet, clean, and you had a lot of room for your site. One thing you will want to be aware of, is there is no electricity. So this might not be the perfect place if you have kids, but if you like to rough it, this an amazing place with great scenic landscapes.

The fact that my wife and I got a campsite here at 10:00AM on an early-August day was pretty miraculous. We were practically given the site since another couple left it to snatch a better site, and we drove by at the right moment. It was amazingly secluded in the forest, and the beach was very nice. The black flies were ferocious, and the 25–30mph winds at night sounded like the forest was coming down. It is as rustic as it gets, and the only amenities were vault toilets and water faucets. The worst part came in the morning, when other potential guests flood the campground. I woke up at 6:30AM, and in five minutes, someone nicely asked if I was leaving and could have my site. I said they could tag the campsite and have it when I left. Throughout the morning, dozens of cars slowed and peered into my campsite, asking if I was leaving. It was horribly annoying. Great campground in the remote woods, but the morning rush to get a campsite was too much.
