Visited the place because I was hungry and food looked delicious order few stuff and when started eating found a hair inside the kofte plate first they said it's not hair it's a piece of cotton then they tried to change the dish but my appetite was gone when actually ate the kofte they were smelly and dry
Bread was hard couldn't eat it but when I was done eating they started serving fresh bread
I had a bad experience
And sweet was just Meh
I had a terrible food poisoning eating here 4 days ago. And I've traveled to so many countries and lived in villages and have never gotten food poisoning so there's something really bad here. I had izmir kofta here and that's all my stomach kept purging out. Be careful!
FOOD POISONING really bad food stayed in Istanbul for 2 weeks nothing bad. Came here and got sick. Terrible baklava and the famous pudding is tasteless and kinda chunkey (could have been the bottom of the pot but this one is a user prefrence, some like it that way some dont) . The staff was very rude and gave me attitude when i pointed out that the donair meat had blood in it still. I know services varies while in Istanbul shop to shop this place doesn't even deserve my 1 star.
a table in the back of the pudding shop in the '60's was my hangout after the autostop from delhi. back when you could hitch through the afghan and persia.
the pudding was a welcomed change from the months of rice, bits of mutton and sheep tail fat. i'd had a couple nights comped at the istanbul lockup. when they kicked me loose, the kindly gent owner gave me the newspaper article. some day i'll get the caption translated. something to do with arms trafficking.
I love it! I give it's 4 star becuase in summer no aiir condontiner
Döner kebab is the best!
Delicious food and friendly staff. Could get busy at times but we ate here 3 days on a row.
Terrible service! I live in Istanbul and I never experience anything like this. DO NOT GO THERE!
I walked in today on a very hot day. I had a bit of a headache from the heat and had to wait nearly 10 minutes to get a menu when it wasn't even busy. Finally when the waiter came by to take my order I barely got to order my soup before he walked away not even letting me order a drink with it. Once I had both my soup and ayran on the table, I kindly asked for wifi and he just seemed so annoyed and yelled something.
Well there wasn't even a password needed for it.
You can imagine the service and treat you get here where food really just tastes as good as most Turkish spots I've been to but costs 2-3 lira each thing and they make you feel like it's a burden to serve you.
Spare yourself!
I test it 👍🏼 nice
Nice place with authentic history in the heart of the city.
Very friendly service. Excellent food. and would recommend this place over and over again to the world
I was lead to believe that this was going to have remnants of the historical hippy trail which makes it "world famous". " World famous", the catchphrase they throw around a lot is due to the fact it USED yo be the start of the hippy trail, but it is missing all the charm one would expect from the notorious start of the hippy trail.
It is more like a fast food joint than a cultural experience. The food is fine and the value is fine, its just misrepresented.
In 1977 I purposely stayed at a hotel near The Pudding Shop and really enjoyed my frequent visits. The crowd were all foreigners on the 'trail' and the atmosphere was very exciting and pretty memorable.
Two complete side walls were large notice boards where for as a few lira you could offer, look for lifts or leave messages for friends who would follow later. Notices of items being discarded or sold were also posted here. A very exciting experience in the 'good old days' !
