Beautiful but it fills you with anger to witness the opulent lifestyle of a monarch; which was in sharp contrast to the life of the average Russian at that time. Hence the revolution. Sheer decadence. Unfortunately this chasm prevails today too in Russia as elsewhere.

Absolutely worth visiting. It will take you only 1 hour to get here with public transport from the center.

I was very impress the Amber room in the Palace, it's not allowed to take photos but it's really gorgeous! The Great Staircase also fascinating. I also liked the Grand Hall. A must see for tourists.

Very long lines in summer, especially on weekends. If you are not afraid of cold — come in winter or book a guided tour.
