As a regular visitor love the people and great coffee normally there once twice a week had the pork belly a few weeks ago beautiful recommended everyone to go Saturday night went back ordered it again totally different absolutely disappointed 3 tiny strips of pork belly the rest of the plate full of large chunks of potatoes and a few little squares of kumara no salad no apple did mention to staff and ws told the menu had been change to afraid to try anything now my friend was also disappointed in there meal 95 dollars later only thing good was the one desert we ordered unsure now may have to change location .Also menu stated herbs and apple no herbs no apple ? ,if this is a new chef then I shall not return which is sad and it was my favourite place to visit
Had the seafood chowder as my main for our family Christmas eve dinner. Thee worst chowder I have ever had anywhere any time! I don't know how they could charge someone money for that! The chowder was full of large lumps of uncooked flour from the thickening and the seafood was very uncooked with the mussels still chewy. Would defiantly not recommend, the small amount I ate made me feel very ill, was very disappointing :(
I'm always loath to write bad reviews but I've been there a few times for various meals and unfortunately giving the benefit of the doubt doesn't work anymore.
Going there first for morning tea, the coffee was delicious and the carrot cake even more so. Great start.
Going for lunch a bit more hit and miss: The fish tortillas were a watery soggy mess with store bought tasting soft tortillas while the seafood bowl was tasty and very well done so 50-50 there.
Dinner was just generally "meh" The pork belly hadn't been rendered down first so was tough and chewy, the crackly hadn't quite been cooked long enough so was like eating rocks. The gourmet roast vege was just some boiled potatoes and kumara. The salmon had the same average vegetables but the fish itself was still mostly raw, had bones in it and the skin was a slimy mess. The desert was an artificial, mass produced caramel chocolate tart straight out of the fridge with store bought ice cream and whipped cream from a can.
The staff were very nice and helpful and the atmosphere was good but the prices and menu imply fine dining and I assure you it is anything but. Sorry guys.
Nice atmosphere, staff friendly and good variety of food.
