If you love Aotearoa and our nature than this place is a must visit, a protected sanctuary with walking tracks that would suit almost everybody. I would recommend this place for everybody especially children.
My only concern would be accessibility for anyone who finds it difficult to navigate uneven terrain or inclines.response / report this review -

FANTASTIC! What a great evening tour I had, got to see kiwis in their natural habitat, Tuatara as well. Alan our guide was fantastic. It's a must do if you are in Wellington. Also with C19 the Sanctuary needs local New Zealanders to visit more. So if you in town its just 2km from the city, and make a great evening out. 👍

Such an amazing place and easy to take kids. Just incredible to see Tuatara, Korimako (bellbirds) and Takahe while walking through beautiful bush, much of it on pram-friendly tracks. The cafe does good food, and is celiac-level gluten free.

Beautiful place with lots of New Zealand’s floral and birds. I had a very nice time walking around Zealandia and enjoy the vibes.

One of my best memories and activity in Wellington. Photos do not do this place justice ! I attended the dawn tour with the family and found the tour informative. We took a relaxing walk in the sanctuary and because it’s a tour after hour, we have the place all to ourselves. Also extremely grateful and lucky to be able to see kiwi towards the end of the tour. Highly recommend this place for everyone who is visiting Wellington!

Absolutely a must visit in Wellington. This sanctuary is completely fenced from predators which makes it a paradise for native birds and the Tuatara. Even more amazing is that the cost of the fence was funded by volunteers, truly inspirational.

Absolutely awesome place. Fantastic to be able to get so close to so many species that are under threat everywhere else. The birdsong day and night is amazing and the volunteers and staff are fantastic too!

Fabulous sanctuary. There is a wonderful variety of wild birds. It's a lovely walk and interesting to see what birds or animals you might see. This is a place for birds and small animals to be free and safe. New Zealand is an amazing country.

Great place to visit. The walk was beautiful and not tough at all. Can be easily done by even children and the elderly. Experiencing the new Zealand bush at night time is a definite treat and hearing the kiwi calls was lovely. Would recommend as a great couples activity.
But note that you are not guaranteed to see a kiwi. Don't go here expecting to see one, you will likely walk away disappointed.
For those afraid of creepy crawlers, just avoid the spider bit, no need for anyone to get that close to spiders that size.response / report this review -

One of the best places to go for a walk in Wellington or take someone to see native birds and nature.
You can get a years membership and then have unlimited visits, which is a great deal if you plan to visit more than 3 times in a year.
The membership is a great deal for a family since each additional member you add is discounted.response / report this review -

Great easy paced walk through the bush with lots of bird life (the feeding stations get you within arms length of them) and amazing views. Not a complaint from the kids and good coffee at the end! Solid 3 hours family entertainment / activity. Top marks.

ZEALANDIA is a wildlife sanctuary/Park which you can do various walks through to see the native wildlife and flora. Fantastic way to see birds in their natural environment, way better than in a zoo. You won't be guaranteed to see all of the species depending on the time of day (less animals in the cold afternoon) and year. Great for bird lovers and nature lovers alike. $20 for entry which I assume goes to the conservation. You could easily spend a day here, there are various walks. If you're stuck on time we did the walk in just under two hours.

An incredible vast park to hike, walk and contemplate nature. A truly beautiful sanctuary for birds and kiwis, almost mythical. You should be prepared for a very long walk. The trails can go from 10min up to 3 hours, so you can find one that suits you. Everyone should visit it, as it is worth the effort. They also have a night tour if you're inclined to meet the kiwis, the furry ones I mean :)

Amazing place to see incredibly rare NZ birds in the 'wild'. Beautiful birdsong and lovely bush to walk through. Don't rush your visit here! Allow plenty of time to walk and stop often to observe the birds. I thoroughly recommend walking the upper reservoir loop track or even further up the valley - the crowds thin out drastically and you see many more birds.

One of the best nature experiences! I went early and I had almost the entire park for myself. I easily spent 3 hours there, by doing some of the extra walks. It's actually quite a nice walk from the city as well - or you can take the free shuttle.

My son and I had a very nice and interesting time here. The conservation work being done is amazing. It's a different experience from the zoo. Highly recommended.

--Nice layout of the park/sanctuary.
--Lots of walking sometimes on an incline.
--Great activity for kids.
--Cafe has great food and lots of veggie friendly options.
--Best to plan your day around this; more bang for your buck if you can walk, eat, then walk some more.response / report this review
